I am thrilled to make it back to Europe soo soon! I was just in Finland, Latvia, Lithiuania and Estonia in March (All 4 were awesome!) Now over thanksgiving I will be trekking to Dublin and Edinburgh. Who has been to these cities before? What where the highlights? Any side trips recommended for the Scottish or Irish countryside? Will I see the Loch Ness Monster ??? Where can I get a good Whiskey or Scotch? Any stories will be appreciated!
BTW Ryan Air rules! I am flying from Dublin to Edinburgh for $30 one way after fees!

Since Wilco is about as far away from rap as you can get I am curious? What percentage of our collection is rap albums? Do you have a favorite rapper? Have you seen any rap concerts?
Well for me I just bought the new Jurrasic 5 Alubum...(only $6.99 at best buy ) It has its moments. Besides them I have all the Beastie Boys cds and that is it (So less than 5% for me!?) I have seen Run DMC (The original Lineup) and Busta Rhymes in concert. I also got to spend time with LL Cool J and Naughty by Nature (heh) They filmed a music video at my dads work! Anyways tell me your stories?!

I saw Chris Isaak with no expectaions. I came out of the show more than satisfied. I only know maybe 5 or 6 songs by Chris Isaak but he put on a great, entertaining show. He offers up some real funny banter too! Has anyone seen Chris Isaak before and what did you think?

I'm 25 from Jersey work in Real Estate and found Wilco in 1996! I read up on them in the Rolling Stone when Being There came out. Saw them at Irving Plaza Feb 97 from there I was hooked. Have seen Wilco maybe 10 times, Jeff Solo 3 and Met the band oodles of times (Including Jay, Ken, Leroy, Bob Edgan etc). The two times I met Jeff I probably had 20 min conversations each time! Other than that I am a travel and concert junkie!

Hey! My second time seeing the Smog! Had a blast...2hr+ set! Gary's Fro gets crazier everytime! Good show...would like to see em once with Tweedy but they are strong enough of a band to be enjoyable without him too! The new album is really growing on me. The obvious highlight for me was seeing Mike Mills (Duh! Look at my user name!) I got to meet him downstairs after the show....he is soo friendly and down to earth. I met him once before back in 2001 but this was a better enviornment than my last encounter. I thanked him for all the great fanclub perks and stuff they had and got in a request for Texarkana which he said maybe next time! Met Dan murphy too and he was nice!

But Green Day just made their best album.

What time did they get on? I was going to go , but I had tickets for Radiohead that night and didn't want to risk missing any of it!

Well I was bored this friday and was perusing the craigs list and I found a last minute ticket to see Gun's first USA show in who knows how long at the Hammerstein. I got in for half price! Yay! Anyway I will write a review as best as I can for it is late!
Doors were supposed to open at 730 but didn't till 830! The line was sooo long it took me over an hour to get in. Fortunatley I missed some of the opening band "A Bullet for My Valentine" which were probably the worst band I have ever seen live in my 10 year concert going history. They left the stage at 950! After an hour and ten minute wait Axl and co got on stage...
The new lineup from what I remeber includes Dizzy, Robin Fincch (From NIN), Tommy Stinton (Replacements...boy is he busy) and a few others I can't remember. I must warn you I owned Appetite and Use Your Illusion about 10 years ago and sold them ions ago because I needed some cash and to make room so I don't remebr all the songs that well... here is what I remembered they played (not and order and very incomplete)
Opener was...
Welcome to The Jungle (That was sweeeeeeeet even though Slash was not playing)
Live and Let Die
Sweet Child of Mine
It's So Easy
Mr. Brownstone
You Could Be Mine
Knocking on Heavens Door
November Rain
Patience
Paradise City
My Michele W/Sebastian Bach
Night Train
a bunch of new songs..maybe 5 or 6....and I was not impressed with any of them
Umm the show was entertaining..and I am sure it would be even better if I knew all the songs...Axls voice sounded pretty good considering and I still had a wonderful time! I was really hoping for Estranged (My Fav) or Don't Cry but other than that no complaints....after all they played for 130 minutes!!!!
-
My only problem with the Starland is they oversell the venue...they should charge $5 more a ticket and sell like 300 less tickets so everyone would have some more room! IT WAS SOOOOO PACKED!
-
This is one boot Wilco should sell on ebay to maybe make some extra money for the cause for all those who couldn't be in attendence... would pay $20 for a copy of this towards the charity! Just an idea...plus I live in NJ! When will a living room show be here!
BTW I am sorry I recently thought this last show was in San Fran for some reason! Also I do appreciate Jeffs charity it is really cool that he is doing these shows and I regret that i can not afford to take the time off and afford to go! Thats all I am saying for now with the opportunity to purchase the shows!

Yay! Glad it turned out to be so great!
And now after seeing the setlist I'm excited to see him myself. I hope he plays 19, that song so accurately describes my first love it feels like I wrote it myself.
Wow awesome story! Its great to get to know an artist better like you know Rhett. I have had the pleasure of getting to know Guster. I have talked with them all for hours probably. Not only that I got to play Ryan Miller in racquettball!
-
did they play anything from Soft Bulletin? that's my favorite album and fav tour that I've seen them on.
Yep...Race for the Prize (Which makes an awesome opener) and The Gash (This is always great live!)

I do go to alot of shows(50-80 a year, thanks NYC!)...I still get excited but I get really excited when I don't know what to expect in terms of setlist, crowd etc. I know what toexpect when I see the lips but thats not always a bad thing. I find even though I go to alot of concerts even the ones that aren't as good end up being fun in some aspect. The fact that I go to all these shows in NYC helps me learn and expierence all different parts of the cities near the venues and learn what the locals do for fun. The only negative is the more and more shows I go to the more critical I get when bands stick to th standards...I love surpirses and diviations from the normal setlist. I get really exicted to hear rare stuff (B sides and common songs) when it is a band I really love! Anyway I get your point too!
-
As always I am excited when the Lips tour. Their shows if you have not seen are visual overload! There was more confetti, balloons and smoke than you can shake a stick at. The only negatives were they only played 3 new songs which kinda bums me out because they are promoting a new album after all. After seeing the show though I kept on thinking I want to see the Lips one time without all the glits and glamour. I think they can musically pull it off but whatever. The problem with all this showman and video stuff is the setlist stay the same! I wish they would delve into there back catalog some more. In all the 5 times I have seen them (since 1999) I only heard one song pre 1990's! Only 2 songs os Transmissions, 2 off Clouds! I LOVE THOSE ALBUMS! Also the facts that they have all this video stuff is it chews up a lot of times. An average Flaming Lips setlist is 12-14 songs(75 minutes long)! They have like 9 albums! ANYWAY it is always fun to see the Lips I just think I am getting old and more crotchety the more concerts I go to!

Darn it with all this talk! When is Jeff going to play my apartment! I am in Hoboken, NJ
Sounds like an awesome time and what a setlist weeeeeeeeee!
Thanks for sharing the pictures everyone!
I AM GOING TO DUBLIN AND EDINBURGH!

Unfortunatley I am only 2 nights in each cities. I am researching all the current suggestions which I do appreciate. Being that I am a big fan of the liquor from both countries I am sure I will have a blast
