  1. Wong Kar-Wai's My Blueberry Nights is no Chungking Express, but still much better than its reputation suggests. It takes awhile to realize that Norah Jones
  2. Although she had a very social childhood, as an adult Emily Dickinson basically withdrew from social contact because she found it draining. But she maintained many relationships via letters; perhaps she would have loved message boards.
  3. The Mist is one of the best "genre" flicks I've seen in ages. Truly unsettling. A lot of people disliked how the movie makes its social criticism explicit, but that's exactly what I loved about it. And I think I could lead an entire class on what this film says about fear, desperation, and fanaticism. What it condemns and endorses isn't always obvious. SPOILER: .
  4. As I said in my PM, reading your post was like looking into the mirror. Here's an article from early January that made me feel the same way: Happy Introvert Day!
  5. Control is an excellent biopic about Ian Curtis.
  6. The Great Debaters. I'm a bit of a sucker for glossy, crowdpleasing social-message movies.
  7. They kicked him out for being an extremist.
  8. I think the cover is a nifty piece of satire, but I'm undecided about the wisdom of putting the image out there in the atmosphere. 9. His FAQ section is fun, too.
  10. But he did play a janitor in Reggie's Prayer (and we can't forget about his turn in There's Something About Mary).
  11. Same here. We played until our moms called us home for supper, literally. We used to keep stats for all kinds of things, even four-square.
  12. That movie crystallizes how the powerful have willingly eroded the very foundation of democracy merely to silence dissent, and asks a key question: If we cannot trust our elections, how can we trust that we
  13. Yeah, but it's not the schlong you want to see.
  14. Anniversary is tomorrow--14 years!--and Stacy suggested we celebrate by heading down to Miller Park to witness Sabathia's Brewers debut. I love my wife. Just finished printing our tickets.
  15. Additionally, I've repeatedly encountered reports that say McCain's proposals, in total, add far more to the federal deficit than Obama's. Might be accurate, might not.
  16. Plus, the Crew swept Pit, bypassing the Cardinals by percentage points in both the division and wild card races. Today was a good day for the Brewers. I have mixed feelings about the Sabathia trade. Overall the deal makes good baseball sense, but I still fear we might regret giving up LaPorta for a half-season rental.
