  1. For me - it's a matter of having an uninteresting office job, but not skilled enough (or willing to start over at the bottom) to start a new career, and trying to convince the missus that we could open up our own pub/joint, make it a place we like being at all day, make it our home, be able to spend all day together, cook the delicious food that we're good at (I'd handle the protein, she'd handle the greens), but then realizing that the insurance and benefits I have are awesome, and that on our own, we would be effed for benefits, but also realizing I'm in a bad mood a lot of the time because I keep a dark opinion about my current job, but we have a little one that depends on us... So I try to focus on the blessings, like the joy that I get from my son every day, and the luck we all have in being healthy, and the luck I have that I gave a great relationship with my wife. And I started fiddle lessons this year, which I'm really enjoying.

    yup

  2. i finished reading the Jerry book, Dark Star. Good read. I forgot about Jerry lgetting into diving. He was quite a character. His relationships with Sara, MG, Manasha, Barbara & then lastly Deborah were all interesting. they lasted until he got bored it seemed.

to many cigarettes & candy. the diabetes took a huge toll after 1986.

  3. just read about Jerry's 4 day coma in the book. I forgot about all that. He made an unreal recovery in 86'.

Merle Saunders helping teach Jerry how to play guitar again. Mountain Girl coming back and getting Jerry well again.

i agree Donna had her moments, and as long as Brent was on the B3 all was good.

  4. i'd have to go back and hear a late 80's show. I don't remember saying that Jerry's voice went bad.

what is the feeling about Donna ? just listened to a 1977 Fire, and her singing pretty much ruins it.

i'm on the fence on whether i like Brent.

  5. hey, i'm just about done reading the book Dark Star. Anyone have thoughts on it ? better books on Jerry out there ?

i'm reading about Jerry getting deeply into herion, and the 80's were not a good time.

i saw a lot of shows in the 80's, don't really remember them, but was his playing really off ? or was it more of he had good days, bad days ?

  6. really good show, almost got swept away by the flash flooding. Solitaire, Give Back The Key To My Hear,t nice to hear. I can't live without Impossible Germ, love it.

seeing all the special guests at past shows, i was a little disappointed we didnt get any duets. The fiddler from Binghams band was nice.

Jeff aslo remarked on how bad the crowd was at Jones Beach, thought we were a great crowd  :thumbup

MMJ, are so great, and Waiting on a Friend was pure joy to hear.

Dylan ? i saw him a few yrs ago & yeah, it was rough, but even playing the same set every night, he actually sounded good to me.
