Lance
Froggie, Once again, thanks for all the mp3s. I hate to tell you, but the tab for "Wait Up" on the gumbo page is accurate. The hard part is getting the rhythym down, but you probably already knew that. If you watch JT play the song in the IATTBYH dvd you'll see he plays it in standard tuning. froggie
the confusing bit is the way to hold down the A chord while playing the riff. what would be the easiest fingering to do it? - and do the numbers on the A chord on gumbopages correspond to which finger? Lance
Finger the A chord the way you finger a D chord, and use your index finger to fret the "B" note on the fifth string and wrap your thumb over the top to fret the Gb on the sixth string. Does that help at all? Lance
froggie
where did the G sharp come from? eh, i'll figure it out someday soon
Lance
F# or Gb, I always get confused as to which is the correct description. Anyway, wrap your thumb over the top to play the note, the "2" on the E string. Oh, and by the way, ignore that open note on the "D" string; just concentrate on playing the bass line on the A and E strings and strumming an A chord in between. It's not easy if you don't play "Carter style" a lot. d-------------0----------------------0------ a--0------0h2-----------0-------0h2--------- E------0---------2-----------0----------2--- LJ

guitargeek85
excuse the impatience but did you get a chance to work on it? Sorry Froggie... I got really busy with school work before fall break. I will work on it, and post this week. Sorry... Peace
guitargeek85
Capo on the 2nd fret... He holds an A chord with his first finger, and hammers on with his 2nd finger or Middle Finger. (So bar all 3 strings with your first finger for the A.) (h) Hammer On -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------0-1-0--2-0-3-0-4------ -----------------------------2--------------------------2----------------------- He hits the A string the hardest for it to stand out over the chord.--2--------------------------0-----------2-----------------0(h)2-----0(h)2---- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------0--2------------------ 8x He adds some type of chord I think.. To go along with this. I will figure out.--------------------------- Give me a little time.--------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ He adds the same chord..---0-2-------------------- 8x--------------------------- -----------------------------2--------------------------2------------------------ --2--------------------------0-----------2------------------0(h)2-----0(h)2---- When he adds his pedal he does versions of an A and D chord. Hopefully this will get you started.... Peace Edited October 11, 2005 by guitargeek85

Hamishi
what is the best way to learn the guitar style that Jeff uses on this song? I think its called Carter Style...do you need finger picks? I want to learn it but I dont know where to start...
guitargeek85
He uses a pic with this song. He hits the root notes of the chord, and strums the rest of the chord. It is kind of tough to get down. I have trouble getting it down. Practice make perfect though. Peace
