ginandcigarettes
Welcome to part two of my soul-crushing depression over my not-so-recent breakup. As I stated in the post about Nothing Up My Sleeve (also known as soul-crushing depression -- part 1), I've decided to celebrate the hopelessness of my existence by transcribing Wilco songs about breakups (isnt' that all of them?) or, more specifically, two Wilco songs about breakups from the YHF engineer's demos, both of which, much like me, were rejected by my ex as not being up to par. My personal torment is viachicago.org's gain! Below is my transcription to Let Me Come Home. The chords are bone-simple so also I've transribed the piano part for your amusement. The left hand of the piano part is kind of an arrangement (meaning it might not be exactly what Jay is playing) because there are really two pianos playing. I've transcribed a typical verse/chorus and avoided doing the really specific minor improvisations that Jay does since then I would have to do the whole thing when you're probably not that interested. There's enough there to get you through the whole song and impress your friends. [D] Let's let the world just [G]take its shape[Em] I'll let my face be [A]your blank page[D] Let my dreams be [G]your escape[Em] You'll just [A]let me come [D]home [D] Oh, I'm a panic I [G]can't explain[Em] I'm prepared to make all of [A]your mistakes[D] Stricken like a flower being [G]bent by the rain[Em] Won't you [A]let me come [D]home [D]Let me come [G/D]home[D]Let me come [Em/D]home[D]Can't you [bm]see my [A]heart is boiling[D] [G/D] [D] [Em/D][D]Can't you [bm]see my [A]heart is boiling [D] Life is short, but the [G]lines are long[Em] Everybody dies, but [A]we're not gone[D] Won't you please help me [G] sing along[Em] [A]Let me come [D]home [D] Birds all sing and [G]no one knows why[Em] They were never asked, [A] and it makes me cry[D] Hello always [G]sounds like goodbye[Em] Please, [A]let me come [D]Home [D]Let me come [G/D]home[D]Let me come [Em/D]home[D]Can't you [bm]see my [A]heart is boiling[D] [G/D] [D] [Em/D][D]Can't you [bm]see my [A]heart is boiling [D] [G] [Em] [A][D] [G] [Em] [A][D] Hmmm... That came out a little small. I hope you can read that. Anyway, questions? Comments? Reasons to get up in the morning? All welcome.
