LouieB
I just sold your ticket.Which one?? According to Rolling Stone tickets to the Decemberists are hard to come by these days. Glad I saw them before they were THAT popular. LouieB

hacienda
I headed down to my local indie--Atomic Records in Milwaukee--and picked up The Crane Wife on vinyl. I've had the mp3s for months, but I've been waiting to drop the needle on some delicious new Decemberists... Anyhow, I put it on. Sides one and two are awesome. Actually, side one alone is worth the price of the album. The gods must have been thinking the same thing, because when I put on side three... it was side one again. Yep, I have two idential copies of the first record of the 2XLP set. But, no second record. I imagine Atomic will take care of me, but has anybody else run into this problem. Just curious. redheadedstepchild
I prefer this record to the others. Oh Valencia!
Chendizzle
What I said is, if you don't like the new one, chances are you won't particularly like the old ones either. LouieB I don't think that's necessarily true, the tracks he mentioned (Crane Wife 3, O Valencia, and Sons and Daughters) are all the tracks that strike me as the most old-school Decemberists songs. Now if he had said he really liked Island/Come and See/The Landlord's Daughter/You'll Not Feel the Drowning, When the War Came, and The Perfect Crime 2, then I think it would be a valid point that he won't enjoy the likes of Castaways or Her Majesty.
