A question for Kidsmoke

Recommended Posts

are you lobbying to be a moderator?

I'm part of another community where the mods make those oink guys look like wimps. They regularly suspend members, attempt to (pretend, at least) to make members adhere to some journalistic certainty when making posts, and constantly edit and delete posts. Any mention of politics is itself likely to lead to a smack down. Even funner is when the mods publicly disagree with one another.

:dontgetit What forum are you referring to if you don't mind me asking?

some cycling one that has big play with the Floyd Landis hearings

Damn. I betcha if you stuck lumps of coal up some competitive cyclist's poop shoots, you'd get diamonds in a couple of days.

I'm not a huge fan of closing threads and I get pretty ticked off when it does happen 99.9% of the time. But after being on this forum for a few years I have learned that this is not a place to exercise complete freedom of speech. Wilco is very good about letting us say what we want to a certain degree. -- And in a sense that's a privilege and responsibility.

All that being said, I'm not too sure the thread in question should have been closed.

As Donna and I said above, this topic has not been closed, just the thread. You can still discuss the issue, but that thread had become unmanageable. I'd say that that's what this closure was about, trying to keep the forum in some sort of order.

For every time that a thread is closed (which is not that often, really), there are probably a dozen threads about which someone is thinking (or posting, or PMing the moderators), "damn, the moderators should have closed that one down pages ago..."

Being a moderator is not easy. I've only been at it a few months, and I've f#cked it up more than once. Donna's been doing this for years, and I'd say her instincts are right 99.2% of the time. If she thought the thread needed closing, I'm trusting her gut on that one.

so I'm voting for that. I vote for Bjorn.

My inner Scorpio, who thinks I would make a fine dictator, thanks you for that.
