WILCO 4.28.00 The Howling Wolf, New Orleans

Recommended Posts

just playing this show i traded for a while back, and the date seems to be wrong. Wilcobase appears to confirm it, but at one point jeff says "that was a song from our last record" (a track from Summerteeth), then "and her's a song from our new record", then they play a track from Mermaid Ave 2. i thought that sounded ok, but then i thought, weren't wilco off the road at that time? YHF came out in Apr 02, after a very protracted spell of recording for it finished in mid 01, and i seem to remember JT saying that Wilco had never been off the road for so long before. this is the set list:-

CD1

1. Candyfloss

2. I'm Always In Love

3. I Must Be High

4. Too Far Apart

5. How To Fight Loneliness

6. Hotel Arizona

8. I Got You (At The End Of The Century)

9. Someone Else's Song

4. Airline To Heaven

5. Too Far Apart

6. Can't Stand It

the release date for mermaid avenue vol 2 was may 30 of 2000. this show is from april 28 2000. that timeline seems to work for me. that is about one month before. YHF was released april 23 of 2002. it was completed 9 or 10 months before that date(ball park figure). that was still a year away from the date of this show.(ball park figure). so maybe i'm wrong but i am comfortable with this date and have no plans to change it on the traders den where i have torrented it.

have heard the show for a while, but if jeff said that, i cant see any patter on the setlist where a MM2 or YHF track gets played after a Summerteeth song.

the date looks to be correct.. it has a similar setlist some others from the earlier 2000 shows
