W(TF)
WTF, where did 20 years go?? Preview of the DVD:http://www.cowboyjunkies.com/ Ryan Adams, Vik Chestnutt, and Natalie Merchant are on this. And way too many microphones.
GtrPlyr
I hope the DVD is better than what I saw on Bravo a few months back. The show I saw was an 1-1.5 hours, but they didn't ever show them doing complete songs. It was more about interviews and reminiscing with the band, mixed in with rehearsals with Ryan, Natalie and Vic. It was okay, but it could have been so much more. p.s. I walked by the church they recorded that album in the other day for what it's worth.
street spirit
p.s. I walked by the church they recorded that album in the other day for what it's worth. I saw the Magnetic Fields and Andrew Bird there a few years back... amazing place to see a show.
Atticus
I am incredibly excited and reservedly skeptical about this. Some things just shouldn't be messed with. The video trailer of the dvd looks like they're trying hard not to sound like the original versings/workings of the songs, rather than respecting the originals while infusing some new life/perspective. I'm not sure what that means. I'll no doubt watch it many times over however it turns out...
W(TF)
I like the Trinity Session ok, though I think it's a bit overrated. Some things I really appreciated about it - the dead quiet church atmosphere, one microphone set-up, etc., are probably impossible for them to replicate for this DVD. It could still turn out well, as A.P said. By the preview I'm hopeful they won't botch it with lots of bonus chattering. Some outtakes would be nice, especially without Merchant. I like Natalie but she's so one-dimensional. And Margo sure as hell looks good, eh.
W(TF)
I watched this again a bit more closely...it seems I spoke too soon about the single mic. See pic below. This should be a great sounding dvd either way.
bjorn_skurj
I'm sure it will be good, but it will be awfully hard to top the original.
