Doug
Huge Okkervil River fan here (although I don't have their first 2 albums; all I have is Golden Dreams, BSB, and Stage Names, and I fuckin' love 'em), but I've never gotten around to hearing Shearwater. I don't have access to online audio, so I can't access audio clips or mp3's or whatever, but could y'all tell me how Shearwater compares to Okkervil River? Are they just as good? Better? Worse? How does the singer compare with Will Sheff? And what about the lyrics? If y'all think an OR fan will like Shearwater, where should I start? The new Matador thing, or something older? Spilled Milk
I prefer the Misra release of Palo Santo, but you can't go wrong with the Matador re-release. The Misra version has a bit of a rough-hewn quality which I prefer, but both are quality.
lizish
I don't think you can go wrong. I've got the first version of Palo Santo as well and Everybody Makes Mistakes and both get a lot of rotation. Just a good band with Meiburg having a very good voice. Saw them live too, and I was also impressed.
