mgsooner
Sorry as I remember seeing a thread about this but I can't find it for the life of me. When I open up the explorer for my D: drive, I see two files. One named "extras" and one "read me" file. I click on "extras" and get the following message: To access the bonus content, you need to enable Flash in your QuickTime preferences. Click here for instructions. So I click here. It leads me to a set of instructions: On Windows: 1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel.2. Double-click the QuickTime Control Panel.3. Select the Advanced tab.4. Under Media Types, select Enable Playback Of Flash Tracks.5. Close the QuickTime Control Panel. Well, when I get to the advanced tab in my QuickTime Control Panel, there is nothing there that says "media types". There is nothing there that says anything about "enable playback of flash tracks". I checked, and I have the most recent version of QuickTime installed. So wtf?
Analogman
WILCO - SKY BLUE SKYSUPPORT Accessing the Enhanced/Bonus Content on Sky Blue Sky. In order to access the bonus content, you must be connected to the internet, and the faster your connection the better. There are actually two disc images on the Sky Blue Sky CD. MAC: when you insert the CD into your disc drive, both disc images will appear one called "Sky Blue Sky" and one called "Sky Blue Sky Bonus Content". WINDOWS: either double click on the My Computer icon from your desktop or choose My Computer from the Start menu. From the "Devices With Removable Storage" area there will be an icon for the Wilco CD you've inserted. Right click on the bonus content icon and choose Explore from the pop-up menu. A window should open with the bonus content with a read me file for the particular enhanced contents instructions. Double-click or Open the file called extras.mov. This will launch a QuickTime movie. If you see a notice that you need to Enable Flash. On Mac OS X: 1. Open System Preferences in the Apple menu.2. Double-click QuickTime in the Internet & Networking section.3. Select the Advanced tab.4. Select Enable Flash.5. Close the QuickTime Control Panel. On Windows: 1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel.2. Double-click the QuickTime Control Panel.3. Select the Advanced tab.4. Under Media Types, select Enable Playback Of Flash Tracks.5. Close the QuickTime Control Panel. After changing the QuickTime preference. Quit QuickTime and then relaunch the extras.mov Does this help? There are so many threads that came up when I searched on "bonus content" that I am not sure which one to post. lamradio
It looks like you have a new version, and any version past 7.2 no longer supports flash movies for security reasons. You can get an older version here: http://oldapps.com/quicktime_player.htm Try version 7.1.3.. That one should work. You'll probably have to uninstall your current version before you install the old one. After you install 7.1.3, you will see the option in the advanced tab to Enable Playback of Flash Tracks. lamradio
Sweet. Thanks! No problem. Hopefully other people that have problems can refer to this thread. But what really needs to happen is Wilco (whoever takes care of these kinds of things for the band) needs to change the way the bonus content is accessed. It needs to be able to work with the latest and greatest Quicktime or a completely different method.

Reverting to a previous version of QT also involves reverting to a previous version of iTunes, and with over 270 GB of music on the line, I ain't about to screw with something that ain't broke. Plus, who knows what else I've got installed that will be rendered useless with a legacy version of QT. So my only other option is to do without, and for someone who has bought every Wilco release since 1994 and attended concerts, bought merch, 180-gram LPs and the like, that ain't an option either. So if you are having similar problems, I urge you to do as I have and contact Wilco tech support (email addy in info section of website) and ask them to come up with a better method for accessing bonus materials on a Mac. Maybe if they get enough email they'll do something about it.
ChooChooCharlie
Thanks for the help here as I too have failed. HOWEVER, in my attempts to get the Wilco bonus content, I somehow succeeded in getting a Hiphop porno called "Shake it Off" as the artwork cover for my bonus materials. Its still just Wilco in the contents, but what you click on to get to it is a bootylicious ass in a thong. For a while I just thought it was Wilco fucking with me. But I figure I just downloaded the artwork accidentally -- AND I'm a moron.
