jc4prez
i thought the show in milwaukee the following night was quite special. What did he play similar set? Who opened?
Smokestack Joe
Milwaukee's Scarring Party opened followed by Paul Sieger and the Southern Continentals, who also backed Daniel on a few songs. it was at Turner Ballroom which is a great new venue. he played the songs you mentioned in your blog, opened with a rocking Speeding Motorcycle with full band. other songs included: Casper, Hey Joe, Silly Love, Rock and Roll/EGA!!!, Wicked World, The Beatles, Devil Town, You Got To Hide Your Love Away, closed with True Love Will Find You In The End. i thought the crowd was respectful, obvious shouts of praise, "Daniel Johnston For President," Daniel seemed happy although shaky hands near the end of show. I think the crowd enjoyed his presense, music, lyrical honesty, and he had moments of humor. also i think some of the crowd who may not be familiar with Daniel's life was amused by his mental illness, like in a childlike way...you know? i found myself smiling and laughing with joy after many songs as i have never seen him live but have enjoyed his music for some time. aaroncooper
yeah i was at the metro, too...that milwaukee set looks very similar to the one at the metro...Daniel seemed to be in a pretty good mood that night, but there was one guy in the crowd that was going crazy, screaming shit like "I just wanna get a sip off of your water bottle, Daniel!!!!"I mean, I love to see people having a good time, but this guy was plowing into people, pumping his fists in the air, and screaming loudly during, and after songs... hope that wasn't you... if it was, disregard everything i said.
