kidsmoke
This story has been going on for hours now, and just keeps getting worse. At first there were no fatalities listed, but the count has now climbed to ten dead, 40 injured. Rescue workers are having a hell of a time getting through the wreckage. So very sad. God bless all involved and their families, many of whom still can't even get news about their loved ones. A link: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/09/12/train.collision/index.html Firefighters are still climbing all over the front passenger car, which is on its side, trying to extricate people. Two cars are partially collapsed into each other...I think it's the freight engine into the passenger car, but it's unclear where the commuter train's engine is...maybe beneath that first passenger car. Those commuter trains are very fast so it was a high speed collision. About 7 of the freight cars derailed. What a horrible mess.
