kayru
Stuart Bogie/Superhuman Happiness and Pronto perform Sunday, September 28th, at Union Pool, 8pm, 21+. $10. Pronto is led by Wilco's Keyboardist Mikael Jorgensen and features his singing, songwriting, and both keyboard and guitar playing. They have recently completed their debut record and will celebrate its completion with full on throw down at Union Pool - featuring a roaring horn section and a rhythm section that icludes Erik Papparazzi of Cat Power on the bass. Superhuman Happiness is led by Stuart Bogie, know for his work conducting and composing for Antibalas as well as performing and recording with TV on the Radio, Celebration, Sway Machinery, Bright Black Morning Light and many others. On this self directed mission he explores raw elements of pulse and sound through a blend of melodic compostion and ecstatic improvisation. The group features Luke O'Malley (Antibalas, Budos Band, May J Blige), Jeremy Wilms (Chin Chin), Ryan Ferreira (Jersey Band), Eric Biondo (Antibalas, The Monkees), Patrick Wood (Expanding Headband, Incredible Handclap Band), and the legendary Colin Stetson (Arcade Fire, Tom Waits). Superhuman Happiness will also be celebrating the release of their new record "Fall Down Seven Times Stand Up Eight"
bböp
Pronto is great...Go check 'em out! (P.S. To any NYC peeps, is it just me or do you always get confused by Union Pool and Union Hall?)
kayru
It is a little confusing, Union Pool is the space in Williamsburg Brooklyn. About a 10 min. subway from Union sq. in Manhattan. It's Pronto's record release so come on out!
Three dollars and 63 cents
What's the best way for those of us outside of the NYC metro area to get the album when it comes out? I can't make it to the show this weekend, but I like what I heard on Pronto's Myspace page and would like to pick up the album. Also, as a head's up, if you search for Pronto on iTunes, you get a really awful hip hop album that has nothing to do with Mikael
