Sir Stewart
In an odd parallel, I've always regretted leaving the weed in the car when I snuck backstage to hang with the Beastie Boys after a show on their tour for the Check Your Head album - which opens with that Budokon sample. tugmoose
Wait, that must have been in 78 - Steve and I weren't hangin' out that much in 79. Gig searches say Foghat played the spectrum in June 78, and Cheap Trick there in May 79 with Graham Parker - a favorite of mine, but I didn't see him till the Bloodshot party at SXSW in 04. LouisvilleGreg
First show I went to had Cheap Trick as the opener followed by Sweet and Foghat at the Spectrum in early 79, just as Budokan was breaking. Very bummed we left the weed in the car. Buddy Steve went out and got Heaven Tonight, I got Budokan. Score one for Tugger. Not to highjack the thread or anything, but how was Sweet? John Smith
Not to highjack the thread or anything, but how was Sweet? I saw them in 1978 opening for Rush at Alpine Valley, they were awful. Timing sound everythig was very amatuerish. I still like them on studio sounds though.
