sunken treasure
Looks like they're releasing a remastered Basement Tapes on March 31.... I've been real into the Basement Tapes lately, and was curious as to what ya'll thought about this situation... It's no secret that the Band tracks on the 1975 official BT were not actually basement recordings...Robbie apparently "lo-fied" them to make them sound similar to Dylan's output. However, they are really good songs...are we supposed to plead blissful ignorance on this and just be happy with the flow of the officially released album? Or would a straight 'basement tapes era recordings' mix be more "real"? Here's one I made that clocks in at 1:19:05s - all tracks are from the Sony release except where noted: 1) Odds and Ends 2) Million Dollar Bash 3) I Shall Be Released - Bootleg Series 4) Lo and Behold 5) Goin' to Acapulco 6) Tiny Montgomery7) You Ain't Goin' Nowhere 8) Clothes Line Saga 9) Apple Suckling Tree 10) Please, Mrs. Henry 11) Young But Daily Growin' - Tree With Roots12) Tears of Rage 13) Too Much of Nothing 14) Yea! Heavy and a Bottle of Bread 15) Crash on the Levee (Down in the Flood) 16) Quinn The Eskimo ( The Mighty Quinn) - Greatest Hits17) Santa-Fe - Bootleg Series 18) Open the Door, Homer 19) Nothing Was Delivered 20) This Wheel's on Fire 21) Sign on the Cross - Tree With Roots 22) See That My Grave is Kept Clean - Tree With Roots 23) I'm Not There - I'm Not There Soundtrack Post your Basement Tapes mix here - either with the Band recordings or without
froggie
there's bootlegs called "a tree with roots" and "the genuine basement tapes" that have loads of extra tracks. there's also a 10 cd set compiled by les kokay that are much better. this one has different versions of the songs from other artists added to it. the official release is a piece of crap

Calexico
the official release is a piece of crap I wouldn't go that far but they are certainly not anywhere near a must listen/must have item.
