Synthesizer Patel
Invisible Republic: Bob Dylan's Basement Tapes It's certainly the least straight forward read, but, to me, it's the most interesting period of Dylan's life and the most interesting book about him - as a result. Mainly because it's not really about him - it's about an imagined old weird america (the invisible republic).

LouieB
Invisible Republic is not about Dylan. it is an interesting bookl but not the place to get biographical info. Listen to A-man..he knows all..... A better series of books is called Bob Dylan Performer, which talks about his recorded performances...all of them. But I would find a good bio and start there. Synthesizer Patel
well if reading about the basement tapes & the anthology of american folk music isn't intersting enough. then get this: revolution in the air clinton heylin is apparently the only dylanologist worth reading, and this (plus part 2) pretty much says everything you'll ever want to know about his music.
