A New World Architecture

Here is your future. These are some more of the choice quotes from the piece, but I know most will want to debate the terms instead of what he actually says. Good luck with that.

"Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of communism, the world is facing another stark choice between two fundamentally different forms of organization: international capitalism and state capitalism. The former, represented by the United States, has broken down, and the latter, represented by China, is on the rise. Following the path of least resistance will lead to the gradual disintegration of the international financial system. A new multilateral system based on sounder principles must be invented."

"While international cooperation on regulatory reform is difficult to achieve on a piecemeal basis, it may be attainable in a grand bargain that rearranges the entire financial order. A new Bretton Woods conference, like the one that established the post-WWII international financial architecture, is needed to establish new international rules, including treatment of financial institutions that are too big to fail and the role of capital controls. It would also have to reconstitute the International Monetary Fund to reflect better the prevailing pecking order among states and to revise its methods of operation.

"In addition, a new Bretton Woods would have to reform the currency system. The post-war order, which made the US more equal than others, produced dangerous imbalances. The dollar no longer enjoys the trust and confidence that it once did."

"The US ought not to shy away from wider use of IMF Special Drawing Rights. Because SDRs are denominated in several national currencies, no single currency would enjoy an unfair advantage."

"One great advantage of SDRs is that they permit the international creation of money, which is particularly useful at times like the present. The money could be directed to where it is most needed, unlike what is happening currently. A mechanism that allows rich countries that don’t need additional reserves to transfer their allocations to those that do is readily available, using the IMF’s gold reserves.

(Hmmm where did the IMF get it's gold reserves?)

Reorganizing the world order will need to extend beyond the financial system and involve the United Nations, especially membership of the Security Council. That process needs to be initiated by the US, but China and other developing countries ought to participate as equals. They are reluctant members of the Bretton Woods institutions, which are dominated by countries that are no longer dominant. The rising powers must be present at the creation of this new system in order to ensure that they will be active supporters."

(That is already done. Obama now sits at the head of the Security Council, the real power of the UN. He got sworn in during the Pittsburgh G20. He's the first U.S. President to sit on and head an unelected international governing body.)

"In fact, democracy is in deep trouble in America. The financial crisis has inflicted hardship on a population that does not like to face harsh reality. President Barack Obama has deployed the “confidence multiplier” and claims to have contained the recession. But if there is a “double dip” recession, Americans will become susceptible to all kinds of fear mongering and populist demagogy. If Obama fails, the next administration will be sorely tempted to create some diversion from troubles at home – at great peril to the world."

"Obama has the right vision. He believes in international cooperation, rather than the might-is-right philosophy of the Bush-Cheney era. The emergence of the G-20 as the primary forum of international cooperation and the peer-review process agreed in Pittsburgh are steps in the right direction."

"China’s leadership needs to be even more far-sighted than Obama is. China is replacing the American consumer as the motor of the world economy. Since it is a smaller motor, the world economy will grow slower, but China’s influence will rise very fast."

"As China becomes a world leader, it must transform itself into a more open society that the rest of the world is willing to accept as a world leader. Military power relations being what they are, China has no alternative to peaceful, harmonious development. Indeed, the future of the world depends on it."

Poor George, 2009 must have been a tough year and I guess he must not have been able to keep shorting company after company into oblivion. Poor George must not have been able to scam 2.9 billion for himself like he did in 2008. He only shorted the mortgages across America for personal gain but I'm sure 2010 will be a banner year for him again. Soros has his capitalism labels wrong again. There are four types, not two.

You have State capitalism (hire enough tax lawyers to avoid taxes)

You have international (transnational) capitalism (hide your money offshore and pay no taxes)

You have Casino capitalism (cause jitters in the stock market and cash out ala Exxon)

You have insider capitalism (profit at will ala Goldman Sachs and JPMorganChase)

Someone forgot to tell Soros that strong nation states counter balance one another. Our form of Capitalism was deliberately destroyed by design, not because it failed or "broke down" we've been robbed,by Central Bankers and Nation-less, Globalist Politicians. And until we understand that basic fact, we can't fight the true enemies of America and the world. The problems were created by the same people who now want to "solve" them,Soros being chief among them. We need to have more international capitalism,i.e, Chinese slavery? We need MORE involvement with the IMF? So it can be the Federal Reserve of the world? The IMF is even more predatory than the FED, if that's possible. Argentina here we come. Please, people come to your senses soon, what is good for George Soros is definitely not good for you. If you have lost your house chances are he owned it.

I did. I was there. The reception was amazing; the mini-quiche got a little soggy from sitting out too long, but the smoked salmon sandwiches and the open bar more than made up for it.

http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/politics/NATLObama-to-Chair-UN-Security-Council-58022432.html

The Obama administration hopes to use the month-long appointment to emphasise a departure from the Bush administration's strategy of pursuing its own unilateral policies through the council.

Wow I did not know that. Thanks and just so you know Austria is heading it for Nov. but of course there is always this:

Article 1, section 9, clause 8 of The Constitution states:

No title of nobility shall be granted by the United States: and no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state.

So how was Obama able to chair this position?

Did Congress approve this?

Should the Law apply to all citizens, especially ones in power?

But you're right it's really funny.

The U.N. is not a "king, prince, or foreign state."

When a body, group, or organization, such as the UN, can wield governing power over entire nations, with their own army to enforce it's will on the world, then it becomes a state de facto. The nations become regions, provinces, of the once coyly named "international organization".

We may want to ask George how his back is feeling lately?

From Wikipedia:

Public predictions

Soros' May 2008 book, The New Paradigm for Financial Markets, described a "superbubble" that had built up over the past 25 years and was ready to collapse. This was the third in a series of books he's written that have predicted disaster. As he states:

"I have a record of crying wolf.... I did it first in The Alchemy of Finance (in 1987), then in The Crisis of Global Capitalism (in 1998) and now in this book. So it's three books predicting disaster. (After) the boy cried wolf three times . . . the wolf really came.[19]"

He ascribes his own success to being able to recognize when his predictions are wrong.

"I'm only rich because I know when I'm wrong... I basically have survived by recognizing my mistakes. I very often used to get backaches due to the fact that I was wrong. Whenever you are wrong you have to fight or [take] flight. When make the decision, the backache goes away.[19]

In February 2009, George Soros said the world financial system had effectively disintegrated, adding that there was no prospect of a near-term resolution to the crisis.[20] "We witnessed the collapse of the financial system[...]It was placed on life support, and it's still on life support. There's no sign that we are anywhere near a bottom."

I wonder if people still claim to be Napoleon when they are taken to the nut house?
