lamradio
I call it the 'movie star' syndrome. Everybody is starring in their own Movie and nothing else matters. A cuter way of saying that Solipsism is running rampant. Very true. Reminds me of the the song "Shame, Shame" by Dr. dog. i used to act like i was in a movieso mysterious and misunderstood
bjorn_skurj
not all of those people in attendance care about the music as much as you might for some, it may be an excuse to get together with friendstalking to that friend may be more important than listening to the musicjust saying-people go to shows for different reasonsThey can go for whatever reason they like, as long as they STFU. lamradio
Man, speaking of people talking throughout a show; last night I experienced the worse case of this of my life. I saw MMJ at the Chastain Park Amphitheater in Atlanta. People were walking around, chatting the entire time. Someone was constantly walking in front of me the entire show.. If you looked out in the crowd, you could see the aisles were filled with people walking around to get another beer etc., or just standing in the aisle chatting. Got VERY annoying after while.. Sucks because MMJ really rocked and played their hearts out. It had to have been discouraging for them to see this.
Tweedling
20X12 and its on pulleys so i can raise or lower it like a sail. With three small kids it's the perfect alternative to the Drive in theater. All the wilco dvd's have graced it's canvas. BTW we allow talking during the screenings. http://backyardtheater.com/This deserves its very own thread. I am so envious. I think I now have my next project. Thanks for sharing! smc2411
I talk throughout shows. Mainly I discuss how every show is the same despite like 4 songs. Also every show sounds exactly like it does on the cd. I like to discuss how the band should incorporate some improv.

Allspread
Surely that's part of it, but the person in front of me, who I tried to get to shut up in Atlanta got all huffy on me and said Wilco is his favorite band and that I was ruining HIS concert, and that unless I am Jeff Tweedy, I have no right to ask him to do anything at a Wilco concert. Of course, several songs later when Jeff Tweedy asked the audience to cut the chatter, at least during the quieter songs, did this guy shut up, even for a moment? Take a wild guess. My girlfriend was at the Atlanta show (alas, I could not go, boo hoo ...) and the first comment she made about it was about the audience chattering nonstop through the whole show and not watching the band. It's inconsiderate to both the band and the audience. She took a day's vacation from work, paid $50 for a ticket, split a hotel room cost with her sister, drove 500 miles roundtrip and her first impression of the night was that people wouldn't be quiet when the band is playing. Sad.
barbkm
Of talkers in Montclair, luckily I was not near them. But there were these two 18 year old girls behind me, and the one kept screeching between each song. Rather annoying. But she said one of the funniest things I've ever heard. it was before the show started, and if she's reading this, than I;m sorry, but you're statement was just silly and made me giggle. She said. "I DO NOT want to go to NYU." Friend: "Did you get into NYU?" Girl, "Well, they have not sent me any paperwork, but I DO NOT want to go to NYU." Don't think she has to worry. pmancini100
when i was at the boston show, these two weird ass dudes wouldnt shut up the entire time. they were reviewing the concert in REAL TIME. as the music was going on, this guy kept comparing it to other shows he's seen. when they played that acoustic version of spiders kidsmoke, he was like: "oh yeah. acoustic spiders. this is great. hooray acoustic spiders." its kinda funny now, but not so much during the show
Guest Jules
I don't think about it. Don't let it bother me. And certainly don't whine about it on a message board. That's just me, though.
pmancini100
well, when a topic is "how can people talk throughout a show?" what do you think people are gonna write about? maybe you can teach me about going to concerts and posting etiquette while you're at it. cause apparently i just dont get it.
