A heart I know by heart
This is also one of my favorite Wilco songs... long time lurker here, but only posted a few times. I've been seeing Wilco live pretty regularly since '04 (25-30 shows)... been interested in Wilco since '02. Was at SSF last year and will be there this year... Big fan of the band. When I saw Wilco last year in Groningen, Netherlands they opened with Sunken Treasure and then played an incredible I'll Fight... what a powerful 1, 2 for a Wilco concert... it was outstanding.... hottuna
I always thought parts of the lyrics are actually pretty ambiguous: the soldier in the song is dying for his country and family etc but at the same time there's a suggestion that he's fighting for the values of wealthier, pious citizens who aren't fysically on the battlefield. Musically, it's one of the least interesting songs on their worst album..
Guest McGuffin
This song is a no for me, as is the entire second half of WTA, Everlasting Everything notwithstanding.
worldrecordplayer
Listening to Saturday night's Solid Sound performance of this song. It stands out. I'm happy to hear it anytime.
