welch79
we have some rattlers here in the smokies...i've run into several on hikes. one was as thick as my leg. pretty spooky. a couple weeks ago, i was on a bike ride on the roads in the park and traffic was stopped. it happens a lot around here, what with folk stopping to see deer and bears and such, but this time, a guy had swerved to run over with the intent to kill a rattler. it was at the side of the road, dying slowly as the killer kinda stood around saying how that snake doesn't have a place on this earth. his ignorance was prominently on display. anyway, i was riding with a retired park ranger who promptly informed the guy of the snake's place both in the ecosystem and on the endangered (for the park) species list. kidsmoke
How really sad. That poor creature...just out minding its own business and that fool couldn't leave it alone. Snakes have a right to live too.
