Any of y'all heard this amazing collection of Wild Wood outtakes?

Being that WW is my favorite solo Weller album, it is no small thing for me to say that I think that this is just about the equal of that great record. It was hard to find from the outset, and now is damn-near impossible.

For those of you not familiar with this era of Paul Weller, he is trying to channel Traffic/Dave Mason/Neil Young, and does a damn good job at it. The production on these records is a good as any record that I have ever heard, ever.

AllMusic review:

A sort of limited-edition addendum to Paul Wellers epic 1993 Wild Wood album, More Wood is essentially the second part of what would and should have been a double album. Far more than just a collection of outtakes from the sessions, the songs and recordings contained herein are easily on a par with the cuts on the official album. Of particular note are the soulful "There Is No Time" and an exquisite cover of Traffic's "Feelin' Alright." TheDave Mason song seems to be a sort of cornerstone to the whole project, which was heavily influenced by both Traffic as Neil Young. The overall "band" feel and organic vibe that surround the tracks and feel here is irresistible, and it proved that Wild Wood could and should have been a double set from the outset. As it stands, More Wood is a bit difficult to find, but for Paul Weller fans, it's well worth the hunt.

I have not heard of this CD or seen it. I agree 100% that Wild Wood is fantastic, and you are right - the production is just about the best around. I am going to keep my eyes open for this.

One of my favorite live CDs by any artist is his Live Wood from that tour. On that tour he was playing a few Jam tunes, a few Style Council songs, and loads from his first two CDs. I saw this tour in NYC, and it ranks as one of my favorite shows ever.

And he still rocks.

I have had it for some time. I like you love this record. Great songs poured out of him from his eponymous solo debut through "Stanley Road".

Was lucky enough to see him play at the Albert Hall in late 1993 and late 1994. Both tremendous gigs and the first one is my top five all all time. He was reveling in his return to form and the critical and public reception to "Wild Wood".

If you can track it down the CD single of "Sunflower" has a stonking live version of "Bull-Rush/Magic Bus".
