PopTodd
I'm an intellectual property attorney. Feel free to pm me if this issue is still pending. Thanks. But, I did make my decision and, after consulting with a few folks, including both attorneys and my family, I decided not to sign the release. It appeared that I would have been giving the company what was essentially co-ownership of the song. Meaning that, they could do whatever the hell they wanted to do with it, including farming it out to other artists to be covered, while paying me nothing.I would still be able to do the same, without paying them anything, but they could really do anything they wanted to, short of selling off the song, outright. No thanks.I think that I will, instead, finally get up off of my ass and find somebody who can actually pitch my songs for me. It's about time. Thanks for the offer, though. And thanks to all of you who responded and helped my out with interpretations and advice.
kidsmoke
Congratulations on the win, even if your better judgement led you to decline this. Your songs will find their exposure...obviously they are already catching peoples' ears! Good luck.
