Artists You Would Be Interested to Hear Cover Songs By Wilco?

Recommended Posts

Inspired by the just-unveiled "Wilco Covered" Uncut Magazine exclusive CD, I began to think of artists I would be interested to hear cover a few of the songs Wilco has written and recorded during their esteemed career.  I also had a conversation with a couple friends about this subject.  First, I will share the list I came up with, followed by the excellent choices my friends related.  I would love to read some other fan ideas in this thread as well, if anyone would like to take the time to share.

You and I - Aimee Mann

Casino Queen - Dwight Yoakam

Ashes of American Flags - Bob Dylan

Candy Floss - Electric Light Orchestra

Misunderstood - Sturgill Simpson

On and On and On - Brandi Carlile

Theologians - Cold War Kids

Passenger Side - Iggy Pop

Pot Kettle Black - Son Volt

How to Fight Loneliness - Julien Baker

Monday - Bruno Mars

She's a Jar - Steve Earle

You Are My Face - Phoebe Bridgers

At Least That's What You Said - Pearl Jam

Art of Almost - Trent Reznor

Pickled Ginger - The Killers

Solitaire - Hozier

Bull Black Nova - The Smashing Pumpkins

Jesus, Etc. - Fiona Apple

Dreamer in My Dreams - Chris Stapleton

Muzzle of Bees - The War on Drugs

Shrug and Destroy - Michael Stipe

Can't Stand It - Karen O

I Am Trying to Break Your Heart - Lord Huron

My friends offered these ideas in response to the original question:

Hate It Here - The Black Keys

Impossible Germany - Dawes

Shake It Off - Beck

Born Alone - Pearl Jam

I'll Fight - Lucius

Reservations - Ryan Adams

Sunken Treasure - Angel Olsen

Via Chicago - Vampire Weekend

Leave Me (Like You Found Me) - Brandon Flowers

Jesus, Etc. - Arcade Fire OR Al Green

You and I by Lucius would be nice.

There is a video of the Spring Standards covering I'm Always in Love; would be nice to hear a proper studio take by them.

Tom Petty doing You Never Know would have been perfect, especially as the music is so similar to Jammin' Me anyway.

Los Lobos - Secret of the Sea

Mark Knopfler - One Sunday Morning

Ben Kweller - Box Full of Letters

Old 97s - Candyfloss

Soul Asylum - Student Loan Stereo

I'm trying to think what song would be perfect for Joseph Arthur...perhaps You Are My Face. Or maybe How Do You Fight Loneliness.

Good choices for Pearl Jam up there.
