  1. I just got the album and had trouble getting through the first 3 tracks. Tell me it gets better?

Yes, it does. Trust me. When I first heard it I really wanted to like it but thought it was pretentious(sp) crap. Then I listened again, and again. Now I love it.

  2. So I was trying to get tix for me and my 3 friends, but they are now unfortunately on their own. Any help getting any tickets, one, two, three, or four, would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks folks.

609-992-5639 my cell (yeah I'm putting my cell # online for all to see. I'll do anything to see the best rock show in the world these days.)

  3. Consider yourselves lucky, those who actually got through. I've been cycling through the same 3 screens for about 30 minutes now. When is it time to give up? When it hits 11:00, I think.

I know lining up venues is all circumstance, but someone, SOMEBODY tell me Wilco's tour manager tried to get the show at the Electric Factory. That venue would have fit all of us and then some.

  4. I'd feel too dissatisfied that somone who sang the lyrics to Wordless Chorus submitted himself to being lopped into a subculture.

I feel you on that, but I look at it this way: all music is spiritual. All musicians and artists are trying to reach that place, that feeling, some call it god, some call it truth, some call it happiness, some call it the meaning of life, Allman Bros. call it "hitting the note." Its all gospel to me.

  5. Why don't we call it a day, and we can both confess.

You can force me to use a little tenderness.

White lies, alibis, anything but say that it's true.

Now we could sit like lovers, staring in each other's eyes,

but the magic of the moment might become too much for you.

    Sneaky feeling, sneaky feelings,

you can't let those kind of feeling show.

I'd like to get right through the way I feel for you,

But I've still got a long way to go.

  6. I haven't read any of this thread because I have a lot of feelings about this myself.

I do not bother with downloads. I like the physical artifact of a cd/record/cassette. The artwork/photos/thanks list/credits/everything makes it a whole piece of art to be enjoyed collectively, for me. Mp3's and such feel kind of hollow and slightly artificial to me. I don't even like ordering cd's from Amazon etc. because the thrill of going into a record store and finding something expected or unexpected holds the most joy for me. I am lucky to live where I do with some (although less in recent years) great indie record stores between South Jersey and Philadelphia where I can always find some great purchases. Yes, cd's and records may cost more than downloads, but I am absolutely willing to pay the extra couple of dollars for the whole package because it means alot more to me.

Digital music feels more disposable to me, whereas I want to hold on to cd's and records and get the most out of them.

  7. AND (once again), how the hell do they exclude The Sea And Cake? They even recorded a review of the freaking album! The lack of recognition this band gets continues to baffle me.

  8. I know a list means absolutely nothing, but I don't see anyone giving any love to The Sea And Cake. Everybody is a tremendous album, and it has been largely ignored.

Oh well. It doesn't really matter how many lists they end up on, most of the groups/artists mentioned won't have the longevity and consistency Sam and co. have had.
