unfair in the sense that he didn't get to live his life to its fullest potential. he accomplished a lot, but i think he had a lot more in him, and now it's been tragically cut short.
"You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them. So now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe." J. Michael Straczynski
That quote has always been a great comfort to me, so I thought I'd share it here.

Wow, so sad. I'm stunned.

Well done, folks! My grandfather was born in Iowa.

Gosh, I hope they include some dates further north. It's been a long time. Not that I'm keeping track or anything.

Review of Middle Cyclone by my 2 yr old daughter: "That's great music, mama!"

Neil's bullshit detector has always been iffy, but now its batteries are officially drained.
Neil's bullshit detector (aka, David Briggs) passed away in 1995. RIP
I'm going to do what I always do when Neil puts out a crappy album - pretend it doesn't exist. I'm going to listen to Zuma now.

I wonder if the CRTC will recognize Wilco as CanCon now?
I loved the duet! Was I hallucinating or did Feist contribute backing vocals on some of the other tracks, as well?

It was a real treat to hear the new album. I honestly can

I'd put The National, CBC's newscast, up there as way better than American reporting. A great Canadian institution.
I watch it nightly after the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.
Love Rex Murphy and the "At Issue" panel.

I seem to remember William Gibson being from Canada? (could be wrong).
William Gibson was born in the US, but lives in Vancouver now. I've run into him around town a few times. He's really tall and slightly stooped over, so he's easy to spot in a crowd. The last time I saw him was at the Vancouver Folk Festival.

Happy birthday!

Lots of good children's music on Smithsonian Folkways, as well. My 2 yr old daughter loves to sing along with Woody.

And, is AC Newman the same Carl Newman that was in Zumpano and if so, does he play any tunes of theirs in concert? Look What the Rookie Did and Goin' Through Changes are two great albums.
Same guy, but I haven't had the pleasure of seeing him for a few years so I don't know what the setlists are like. I really loved Zumpano, back in the day.

I'm excited about this. (Against my better judgment.)

I think this is going to be the teen pregnancy of threads.

Happy birthday, Drew! The future is unwritten.

I saw them in Vancouver just a few days before the Fillmore run. Great show. Pretty sure it wasn't recorded, unfortunately.
