  1. I'll say it now - this guy is the best.

I've been saying that since about Slam 11 or 12. I think it is totally proven today and this year, though.

I do feel really bad for Andy, though. That was a fantastic match, it's a shame someone had to lose. Congratulations to them both for playing such an outstanding two weeks.

  2. I've got two tickets for the Wolf Trap show on July 8. One is lawn ($32), the other is F Orchestra, Row R, Seat 23 ($38). Let me know if you want one or both. Face value plus convienence fee.

  3. We're looking for 4 tickets to the Vienna, VA show for anywhere at all in the venue. We can take them in pairs, too, so if you're looking to get rid of 2 or 4, we'd be happy to take them off your hands! If you can help us out, you can reply here or email me at megara1028@aol.com. Thanks very much!

I sent you an email. :rock

  4. I'm halfway through my second listen. I'm really digging the album. I think it's better than SBS (which, after listening to it again isn't a bad album, just not my favorite) but not sure where it ranks otherwise.

I like the '70s pop-ness of "You Never Know" and like the harmony Feist (it is Feist, right?) brings to "You And I." Not sure if I have a favorite song yet (and even if I did, it'd probably change after a few listens anyway) but overall I think it's a good album.

  5. In right at 10 am.

I got Orchestra Row S 12 & 13 for Wolftrap in Vienna, VA.

Not great -- not bad either. Wolftrap is such a great venue that anywhere in the Orchestra is a pretty good seat.

Thought the system was much more responsive than the old presale system.

It would never let me get two Orchestra seats. I clicked it at 9:58 but apparently it was open already. I was kinda pissed, actually, because I wanted at least two seats but had to settle for one seat and a few lawn tickets. I'll try again when the regular tickets go on sale.

  6. So anyone know the girl who threw her bra onstage during the 930 show in DC? She was kind of cute. PM me if you have any info. :thumbup

I enjoyed the film. I do wish during the interview portions between venues they would have at least shown who was talking. I recognize almost everyone's voice but sometimes they sound similar. And those were actually the portions I enjoyed more than anything. Hearing all the members talk about each other, the music and how it affects them or their thoughts on it.

  7. how exciting, collin!! glad to hear that you've formulated a plan and are making the move.

i guess there is little chance of one last show at the troubadour or something before you scram. alas.

    BEST OF LUCK!

i endorse looking up the bobblejen/caliben household. ben knows where to find the good beer, and jen is a direct hookup to quality eclairs.

Thanks for the warm wishes. It doesn't look like we'll be able to catch a last show, darn.

  8. PM me or Caliber when you get here.

See, it's friendly people like this that I joined VC in the first place. :cheekkiss I think somehow I knew you were in the DC area, just never quite realized it. I'll be sure to PM you

Anyway, I'm moving because I need a change of pace. No job or apartment yet, but I'm sure I'll have them both soon enough. It just wouldn't do to be homeless in a new city, would it?

  9. So I know I haven't been on much in the past year or so, but thought I'd let everyone know I'm moving. Currently I reside in California, but will be driving cross-country to Washington, DC at the end of the month. I'll be there around August 1. I'm super excited to be on a new adventure, but scared to be in a new place.

So goodbye to all my California people, hello to all the new DC people -- I'll see you when I get there.

  10. The smoke was so bad here on Sunday that it was night-dark by 2pm. Yesterday was a little better (smoke-wise) and today even better, but the winds are still blowing and HOT!

Did help raise a semi-full of bottled water for the firefighters, though, so good deed for the day. Just wish we didn't need a natural disaster to bring the community together like this; and everyone who is affected please stay safe.

  11. Finally saw the season finale on Sci-Fi here in the US. Thought the whole floating-bit was a bit weird much like the rest of you. I liked season 2 the best so far. David Tennet (did I spell that right?) is a great Doctor. I was a little wary when I first heard it, but he's fabulous.

"Blink" was a great episode, but I think my favorite was the Shakespeare one.

Stephen Moffatt is a great writer. Really enjoying his "Coupling" repeats on BBC America. That is the same writer, yes?

Can't wait until season 4, but it's going to be a while, blast!

  12. Some folks wanna stay stuck in a rock time warp, that's fine but Wilco is a living thing. I believe in 5 or 10 years all of us will be saying we thought SBS was the shit all along. :yes

I remember thinking the same thing about agib. I listened to it two or three times when it first came out, probably closer to 10-20 to give it a listen. It didn't do much for me. I put it on a shelf for about a year then put it back on just before I was about to see them live in '05. Wanted to be somewhat familiar with the songs so I knew was I was getting. Then I was blown away with the album. It took a while for it to simmer and grow, but it took root firmly.

SBS is a similar grower. On first listen (the internet stream) I only had it on in the background and didn't hear anything that stood out particularly well. The first few times in my car when I was listening still wasn't blown away. I've come to appreciate it more with each listen, and even more after seeing the recent shows, but I imagine I'm going to like it 10 times as much in a year or two. :music

  13. I did not personally see any of these people, but it was reported that Catherine Keener and James Spader were at the Greek in LA (they were also at the Greek two years ago). Also, Sandra Oh. And I think somebody else, but I forget who...

I'm fairly sure I saw James Spader there before the show. Shorter and slilghtly chubbier than I would have thought from tv (but aren't they all?) but still looked like him. Didn't get to talk to him or anything, and it was only a quick glance, so can't be sure.

  14. Saw your pics on Myspace. Unless those are faked. You never know. But you seemed to fit the bill.

    Of course those are faked!

I mean, the guy is so happy and sweet that he probably throws in extra "nothings" like mini-marshmallows in an ice-cream sundae....

Thanks for all the nice words Donna!

  15. It's entirely possible that whoever shouted 42 was just guessing and had been reading a little too much Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I promised myself that I'd count if they did Misunderstood, but, when it came down to it, I guess I was too into it to remember. :thumbup

I actually did count and it was in fact 42. I was sober the whole night, too. Nothing to do with Hitchhiker.
