  1. it is great, don't think too many decemberists fan dispute that, just that the 2 before it (and now this new one) are even better

Other than a few songs (July July and The Legionaire's Lament) I don't really like Castaway's and Cutouts. I personally think it's their worst album, and that's including the new one that I've heard but briefly.

  2. And if it weren't for the new Soul Asylum, Pearl Jam, and Gin Blossom records, I may still be able to say I like a bunch of other '90s bands. I still like their '90s stuff though...

Wanna try tossing another one at me? :P

    There's a new Gin Blossoms album? :o

  3. Agree. It took me a while to get into Colin's voice. Picaresque was the first Decemberists album that I got into. Something about that one just clicked, but now I pretty much love the whole Decemberists catalogue. Love the crane wife. :yes

Is this officially out yet? If not, when's it coming?

  4. I'm coming to Chicago! Only for a few days, and unfortunately no Wilco dates scheduled in those days, but I'm coming anyway. :thumbup

I'll be there from September 24th though the 27th. Anyone want to meet or maybe catch a show? I'm thinking of going to the Glenn/Nels show on the 24th. Hopefully my flight won't be delayed if I do go.

Hope to see/meet some of you!

  5. Mostly cause I don't feel like combing through the whole thread, here's my favorite part:

I don't want my son or husband to accidentally see a breast they didn't want to see.

Okay, quick poll. Guys, how many breasts do you NOT want to see? I can understand not wanting to see your sister/mom/sister-in-law/other relative, but otherwise I don't follow.

  6. Anyone heard of Corrine Bailey Rae? She's coming to the HOB in Hollywood in about two weeks and I'm thinking of going. I've only really heard one song, which I liked, but heard parts of two others which sounded very alike and didn't like so much.

Anyone else going to go or have more sound clips I can sample?

    Thanks.

  7. Saw Soul Asylum last night at the Troubadour in Hollywood. I really enjoyed the show. :music They played quite a lot of songs from the new album which was released that day.

I was also very excited to see them again. The only other time I had seen the band before was on the last night of their tour with Matchbox 20 in 1999 and they played all cover songs. While cool to hear the covers I was very upset that I didn't hear any SA songs. Last night made up for that, as the only cover they played was "Summer of Drugs".

The boys seemed to be having a lot of fun, too. They were jumping up and down on stage and Dave did a little shimmy-shake during some songs. :dancing It was very amusing.

Don't have a set list but some highlights were:

Runaway Train (still a fantastic song)

    Bittersweet Heart

    Lately

    Crazy Mixed Up World

    Cartoon

    Summer of Drugs
