  1. Dear Cubs,

What the fuck? WHAT THE FUCK? Are you kidding me? Three blown leads? Why can't you win a fucking game. I don't care if you win all your other games, just beat the god damned White Sox in a game where you lead three times. Is that so much to ask? I never really wanted to root for you when I moved here, but I'm open to it if you give me reason to. But if you can't beat my #1 teams divisional rival, then there is no chance.

    WHAT THE FUCK?

    Sincerely,

Not a fan, you fucking....what the fuck?

    :rotfl

    But it ain't over.... yet.

Edit: OK, now it's over. And the great cub nemesis, AJ Pierzinski is the hero. Ah, what sweet irony.....

  2. Oh, totally...but in this case, they're both accurate. He did knock over Barrett in said collision, did slap the plate, did move in Barrett's direction and (best of all) did get punched in the face. :lol

    hehehehe we'll see

    EDIT: Top 1ST B:1 S:1 O:1

Jermaine Dye singles on a ground ball to shortstop Ronny Cedeno. Scott Podsednik scores. Paul Konerko to 2nd.

    Top 1ST B:3 S:1 O:1

    A. J. Pierzynski singles on a ground ball to right fielder Jacque Jones. Paul Konerko to 3rd. Jermaine Dye to 2nd.

    Top 1ST B:2 S:2 O:2

Juan Uribe singles on a line drive to left fielder Phil Nevin. Paul Konerko scores. Jermaine Dye scores. A. Pierzynski to 2nd.

  3. Here's a Roshomon moment:

Article written by JUSTIN EINHORN, STATS Senior Editor on Yahoo:

The White Sox won two of three games when the Cubs visited U.S. Cellular Field in late May, but the series is best remembered for a bench-clearing brawl triggered by Barrett punching Pierzynski. On a play at the plate, Pierzynski knocked over Barrett to score and slapped home plate before moving in Barrett's direction. The Cubs catcher punched him in the face.

Same moment described by David Briggs / MLB.com

The Sox took two out of three from the Cubs in their first meeting, but talk inevitably circles back to the bench-clearing incident. Pierzynski collided with Barrett at home plate and, while walking past him to pick up his helmet, Barrett punched the Sox catcher.

Reminds me of the Katrina incident where white folks carrying groceries are "getting provisions", while black folks carrying groceries are "looting" :yay

  4. I am not going to do this whole back and forth about who's worse. I'll only point out that Coulter is not taken seriously (even by most conservatives) whereas Chomsky and Moore are taken seriously.

Have you done your civic duty and voted in ction's poll?

  5. Only because they're stealing signs again! :realmad

    :ermm

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

More importantly, they have won games during this winng streak like today's -- strong enough pitching and timely hitting. I think they had a better record at this time last year vs this and no one accused them of stealing signs then. Sheesh.

  6. I'd say none. Unless Leo was actually paying the Braves pathetic bullpen.

I'm sure a bunch of you folks would be highly amused to hear me yelling at my TV on a nightly basis.

"JUST THROW F*@@!N STRIKES YOU PATHETIC LOSER!!!! JESUS F*@@!N CHRIST YOU SUCK!!"

:yay :yay I am highly amused just reading about it.

  7. i took it last night after a bit o'wine and i got like the first 8 right then most of the rest wrong. i also didn't have my reading glasses on, which have become my new best friend.

Oh, and I love all the posts above -- Godwin's law :rotfl

  8. Sound of other shoe dropping:

    Riske, Guillen suspended

    June 22, 2006

NEW YORK (AP) -- Chicago White Sox pitcher David Riske was suspended three games by the commissioner's office Thursday for intentionally throwing at St. Louis' Chris Duncan this week.

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen also was suspended, for one game. He and Riske were each fined an undisclosed amount by Bob Watson, vice president of on-field operations for Major League Baseball.

Riske's suspension was scheduled to start with Thursday night's home game against the Cardinals, unless the reliever appeals. Guillen was required to serve his penalty Thursday -- there was no appeal process available for him.

Riske and Guillen were ejected in the seventh inning of Chicago's 20-6 victory Tuesday night after the right-hander hit Duncan with a pitch.

The benches had been warned in the bottom of the sixth after St. Louis pitcher Sidney Ponson plunked two White Sox batters with the bases loaded.

  9. Has anyone in this thread given Ozzie a pass for his comments? I haven't seen it. Sure, there have been jokes made, but they haven't been attempts to downplay the offensiveness of what he said. You're really reading a lot into all this ... almost seems like you're trying to fan flames that aren't even there.

For what it's worth, I expect Ozzie to be heavily fined at a minimum, and suspended for a week or so at a maximum (probably both), and that's perfectly OK with me. MLB has to do something that will get his attention.

    Agreed 100%.

Though I'll maintain that Jay Mariotti is limp-wristed.
