  1. A lot to talk about, but I don't have much time now.

Suffice it to say I was front row, got some great pics, became part of the show when Jeff took my camera and then took a shot of us in the crowd, got the set-list, had it autographed after the show by Jeff, took a pic with Jeff, met some awesome VCers and had an incredible time.

    :cheers

Here's the setlist as typed by the band:

    Airline

    BYH

    At Least...

    Muzzle

    HS Drugs

    Impossible Germany

    War On War

    Radio Cure

    Shot

    Jesus

    Walken

    Flowers

    Theologians

    I'm the Man

    Misunderstood

    ----

    Hummingbird

    HMD

    Cali Stars

    Late Greats

    ---

    Via Chicago (did not play)

    LNGCA

    Kingpin

    Wheel

Edie can verify accuracy when she gets online. She was keeping score. She also counted a record(?) 48 "nothings" in Misunderstood ...

I'll try to get some pics uploaded within a few days. Need to go through them and do some photoshop touch up.

There was also a taper there. Forgot his name (apologies) ... but he said he thought the quality was pretty good.

Shout out to Kidsmoke, MChristine, Edie, Oceanman, and my partner in crime Red1996, among others at the show! I'm talking about you lurkers Sara and Chris!

    Again ... wow!

Oh yeah, the band freakin' rocked! They were ON last night. Very high energy show without a lull.

  3. Clay!!! See you there!!!!! :cheers :w00t

Didn't know you were coming ... Groovy!

Hopefully no problems at the door this time. I've already checked the venue and Wilco policies and have printed copies of them in my camera bag in case I have trouble.

  4. I've been there for pre-bowl game / Final Four events ... it's an outdoor area not too far from the AlamoDome. A number of bars/restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

This is what I googled: "Lone Star Pavilion, an outdoor, covered stage and concert setup with a capacity for over 3,000 guests."

  5. Okay, so my phone is limited to MIDI ringtones.

I've downloaded "outtasite (outtamind)" from the Gumbo Pages site, and it's serviceable.

Just wondering/hoping if anyone had other Wilco songs available in MIDI?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. smuggle the bitch if your concerned.

You haven't seen the size of my camera.

    :blush

One more photo-related question: What type of stage set-up/lighting has the band been using on tour lately? In OKC (spring 05) it was nice and bright with the psychedelic curtains and huge video screen behind the band. At the Cain's in Tulsa (fall 05), it was predictably stripped down for the cozy venue, but the lighting was very dark for the most part. I'm hoping they put a little more light on the performers at the Cotillion.

  7. Okay, it looks like Wilco is not going to stop in Oklahoma for a show on the 14th of Oct., so I'm probably going to hit Wichita the next night.

(I have thought of hanging out at the Guthrie Love's on I-35 to catch the tour bus coming through Oklahoma the day before, but that's a little too stalker-ish.)

    :ninja

As some of you know, as an amateur shutterbug I have photographed the boys before in OKC and Tulsa, but upon entering the Tulsa show I was the victim of an over-zealous bouncer who did not allow my camera in. (I had to appeal to a higher authority -- kidsmoke -- who got a roadie to take me to the mgmt of the venue and straighten things out ... )

Anyway, I'd like to take my camera to Wichita but wanted to avoid any last-second hassles.

Here's Wilco's policy from wilcoworld.net: "wilco does allow non-flash still photography wherever it does not conflict with venue or other restrictions beyond our control. please be considerate of others. we do not allow video taping, and ask that you refrain from using your cel phones during concerts."

I'm totally respectful of the no flash policy so that's not a problem.

I looked on the Cotillion's website to get their camera policy: "No audio or video recorders are allowed without permission."

I should be fine. Emphasis on "should" ...

My question: Should I take a printout of the Wilco policy with me to show "permission" from the band and their management? What other "permission" could I hope to get? I'm going to buy a ticket to enjoy the show first and foremost so a photo pass like the press get is not my goal. I'll stand in line and wait to get a good spot like the rest of y'all.

    Thoughts/advice?

Am I worried over nothing? Has anyone here ever taken cameras into this venue?

    :huh

  8. OCT-09 HUNTSVILLE, AL VON BRAUN CENTER CONCERT HALL

OCT-12 FT. WORTH TEXAS WILL ROGERS AUDITORIUM

    OCT-15 WICHITA, KS THE COTILLION

    OCT-16 SPRINGFIELD, MO SHRINE MOSQUE

Now listed on the wilcoworld site.

Okay, there are two days between the FW and Wichita shows, and that tour bus would have to drive straight up I-35 through Woody Guthrie's home state. Plenty of time to stop in OKC or Tulsa on Friday or Saturday night ... This could be PERFECT!

    (PLEASE!!!!!!)

  9. I preferred them when Captain Feathersword was still in the band.

Captain Feathersword is a good songwriter, but has a tendency to overproduce everything ...

Sarah's probably the coolest kid in school. Been to any more shows lately?

  10. also, thanks for the advice on how to post things on ysi for macs. the only problem is (and you may ridicule me all you like, i certainly deserve it), i don't know how to make a folder into a zip file. is it as simple as changing the file extension or do i need to do something else?

A Zip file is a method of compressing multiple files inot one smaller, more easily downloadable file. Since you're a Mac guy, you might be familiar with Stuffit. Same principle, except I don't think PC users can open Stuffed files (like .sit or sitx) ... If you google something like "Mac OS X Zip compress free download" you'll probably be able to find some freeware that allows you to create and open Zip files. Stuffit will automatically open Zipped files, but doesn't create them.

    Good luck.
