Wilco to play Concert for Change in Madison on Saturday
Chicago-based band Wilco will perform a Concert for Change on Saturday, according to the band's Web site.
The location of the concert has not yet been announced.
Previous Concert for Change events have been fundraisers for Barack Obama's presidential campaign.
It's the same day as Madison's third annual Freakfest Halloween celebration.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on several Downtown stages, several other bands will perform, including O.A.R. at 12:30 a.m. Sunday as the headliner on the Mountain Dew Amp/Z104 stage at the corner of State Street and the Capitol Square.
A stage on State and Gilman streets will feature local acts such as Natty Nation, Awesome Car Funmaker and The Box Social, among others.

I find that really hard to believe....Guess we'll have to wait and see.

hmmmmm....
The link on the Wilcoworld crawl goes to Obama's website....wonder if Obama is going to reschedule his Madison appearance that he canceled last week. It would be pretty sweet if Wilco is playing a free Obama ralley on Sat! ...or a least a concert in support of Obama?
Anyone know any details? I have not been able to find any.

Harp Magazine Discontinues Publishing after Seven-Year Run

Founded in 2001 by editor-in-chief and art director Scott Crawford, the magazine entered into a partnership with the owners of JazzTimes in 2003. The result was a sophisticated rock and pop magazine that was critically acclaimed and well-respected in the music industry for its candor, style and breadth of coverage. The magazine's web site

Some of the other videos from HORION74 are pretty classic too. He must have too much time on his hands.....

I just posted this in another thread....but, I'm really surprised that there has not been a mention of Mescalito. My favorite album of 2007 is Ryan Bingham 'Mescalito'. Saw him open for DBT earlier this year.
and here is a write up on Bingham from allmusic.com:
Americana singer/songwriter Ryan Bingham was raised in rural Texas, where years of hardscrabble ranch work and competitions on the rodeo circuit would eventually surface in the dusty riffs of his country-styled debut, Mescalito. Living alone since his mid-teens, Bingham shuttled back and forth between Southwestern border towns and relatives' homes, often sleeping in his truck after nightly rodeo gigs. It was during those treks that he began entertaining friends with the guitar, an instrument he'd learned at the age of 17 from a mariachi neighbor. Drawing inspiration from Bob Dylan, Marshall Tucker, and Bob Wills

hell, my album of the year is Magnolia electric co. sojourners. just some warm mid tempo tunes with rhodes and guitar.
Great band/album.....
On that note.....My favorite album of 2007 is Ryan Bingham 'Mescalito'. Check him out:

Not going to happen.....

so anyone think they are going to play those songs from the wilco book? that would be funny if they played the entire wilco book in the same setlist... the people that chose that day would be pretty pissed.
I actually would like to hear a few of those tunes.....

Why not have a pinned thread -
Wilco Ticket Information
Websites, Passwords, etc.
Great idea...
Speaking of that....Does anyone know if the Friday Jam/XRT presale for single day tix is facilitated through Tickbastard or is it though XRT's website? I'm signed up as a XRT VIP and have the password...I just want to be sure I'm on the right website at noon on Friday...
-
sign up at XRT website. you can also enter a contest for free tix that way and you will get password. Someone also posted the password on this thread.
Thanks. Will do.
-
there is an XRT password.. if you are sleuthy enough, it is quite easy to locate.
I'm having problems finding it.....Would you mind letting me know what it is....Maybe through a PM if you don't want to post it on the board. Thanks...really want to get tix on Friday...
-
Does anyone know if there is a password needed for the WXRT/Jam, Ticketbasterd pre-sale that starts on Friday??
If so, does anyone know what the password is??
Thanks.
-
Sweet......Good news to hear on a Monday morning! I'll be there...hopefully....if I can get tix....I'm sure these shows will sell out quick.
-
Nels was, of course, ridiculous! Hey, what was he shredding on the guitar with? A comb?! Told hubby I'd ask here.
Nope, not a comb.....He sometimes uses the tone bar from his lap steel.
-
I saw Doc Watson there a few months ago....It's a very nice venue with great acoustics. I'll be sitting in the 5th row for WIlco.
-
Wendy posted some good info about musictoday's policies in this thread. They always send out tickets just a week or two before the show.
Thanks for the info.
In the past I thought I remembered getting my tix earlier than 2 weeks in advance. So I just wanted to see if anyone has received their's yet. I guess I'll just be patient and wait annother week or two before I really start to worry.
-
I have not received my Music Today pre-order tickets for the Madison Oveture Center show yet. I'm starting to worry that there might be something wrong with my order. Is it just me? Has anyone else received their Music Today pre-order tix in the mail yet?
-
thanks but no thanks $39 for bad sounding ballroom.....im cheap but i like quality shows
I know.....I can't believe that I'm saying this, but I don't think I'm going to get tix to that show. I really can't stand that venue....I'm not sure why Wilco keeps playing there.
Guess I'm just going to see Wilco in Madison this fall.
-
also, the way they herd people into the lower bar area, before letting them barge through the doors and trample one another running up those shitty stairs. its a horrible place to see a show.
You forgot to mention that the sound sucks....
