  1. Robbie Fulks ia a lot of fun to see live! I've seen him a few times when he has played here in Madison, WI.

.......By the way Robbie Fulks and Don Stiernberg are playing togther at the upcoming Sugar Maple Traditional Music Festival in Madison Wisco on 8/3 and 8/4....The Festival is a blast....I suggest checking it out.

Here is the link to the Festival's site: http://www.sugarmaplefest.org/

  2. the production actually isn't as "overproduced" as some of you are claiming...

and it's definitely not "glossy production", if you want glossy, i can give you plenty of examples of glossy (namely pretty much any emo band), there's a bit of a difference between bright & glossy production. i for one have no qualms whatsoever with the production. the production on Goodnight Rose isn't even that different from say the production on Let It Ride. Also, the vocals on here are some of Ryan's best, no matter what.

i'm about as anal as it gets in terms of production, having worked in a studio a bit in the past, but it's still pretty rare for me when bad production ruins an otherwise good album. sure it can enhance a great album to make it even better, but either the songs or there or they aren't, no amount (or lack thereof) production can mask that.

also, if any of you are still basing your production comments on the downloaded versions, the leaked version sounds like shit compared to the real thing.

I hear ya. The songs are there. I just think the album would have been better if the songs were recorded live in the studio, with one or two takes and minimum overdubs like Roses or JCN. I'm really suprised how much I prefer listening to the tunes during the Kingston show compaired to how they sound on EZT1GR. That being said, I've only listened to EZT1GR once, compaired to the 50+ times I've listened to the Kingston show.....I'm sure the album will grow on me.

  3. Well.......After hearing many of the tunes from Easy Tiger during lives shows that RA has been playing, I was very excited to hear the album.......

This is my 2 word review of Easy Tiger......OVER PRODUCED!

WTF! I still really like the songs, but what in the world was Ryan thinking recording and producing such a glossy album. If this album was produced the same way as Cold Roses and Jacksonville it would be 100 times better.

  4. I had 2 computers going at 10am and was denied tix.....I was really hoping to see this show......Oh well, I should consider myself lucky, I saw the HOB show in Jan and also saw the Town Hall run in NYC in December....

I look forward to Milwaukee in the fall. :dancing

  5. I can't find where tix go on sale for the 6/19 Chicago show. Does anyone know if it's through Ticketmaster or the venue? I'm really worried that I'm going to get shut out and not get a ticket for this one because of the lack of details and the small size of the venue. I'm starting to think I might try to get tix to MN just in case....

    Any thoughts?

  6. I just saw Will play in Madison a few weeks ago. It was a treat to see him play without Centro-matic. He definitely put on a diffrent show without his full band. Be sure to get there early.....I thought Will was headlining, and he's not.....I missed the first few songs of his set.

I really hope I get to see South San Gabriel play live someday......

  7. From www.whitestripes.com:

Hello to all the Candy Cane Children in the land,

The White Stripes have completed the recording and mixing of their sixth album. It is entitled: Icky Thump and is their first album to include a title track, which curiously (and not ironically) has the same words in it's [sic] name. Though some residents of northern England might almost recognize the title, the Stripes stress they are spelling it wrong intentionally just for "kicks" and "metaphors," and to avoid a possible lawsuit from the estate of Billy Eckstine.

The record was recorded in Nashville at Blackbird Studio. And word around the sewing circle is that many of your favorite White Stripe type songs may not be your favorite (pronounced favaright) White Stripe type songs for long.

    Some song titles include:

    Catch Hell Blues

    Little Cream Soda

    Monkeys Have It Easy (discarded)

    Rag and Bone

Clicky Bump (retitled into something pleasant)

Blue Orchid (relocated to previous album)

You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)

It was the longest time the delightful duo have ever spent in the studio, totaling almost three weeks. Jack and Meg were said to have been looking like they were "into it almost." And even Meg herself was quoted while leaving a local Nashville Laundromat saying that the record was, in her best estimate; "finished," "musical in nature" and lastly, though slightly muffled, "good."

The Stripes will be releasing a statement soon saying: "we are doing our best (whatever that is) to release the album as soon as corporately possible. And though we are tired, worn, weary, hungry, cold, and left without an ounce of nutrition amongst ourselves, we are in the midst of planning performance type shows around the world."

  8. Ryan Adams' Easy Tiger has been scheduled for a June 5 release on Lost Highway.

While the final sequence is still TBD, Easy Tiger will be comprised of the following tracks:

    Goodnight Rose

    Everybody Knows

    The Sun Also Sets

    Halloween Head

    Off Broadway

    Two Hearts

    Tears Of Gold

    These Girls

    Two

I Taught Myself How To Grow Old

    Oh My God, Whatever, Etc.

    Rip Off

    Pearls On A String

Easy Tiger will be Ryan Adams' ninth full length collection of new studio recordings, following Heartbreaker (2000), Gold (2001), Demolition (2002), Rock N Roll (2003), Love Is Hell (2004), Cold Roses (2005), Jacksonville City Nights (2005) and 29 (2005)

  9. The only time I saw them they opened for Centromatic at the Subterranian. It was a weird order though, with Two Cow Garage being the first opener. After getting the crowd worked up, it was difficult for people to focus on GLS, so it was a less than ideal way to see them.

    LouieB

Yep. That was the same tour that I saw. I agree.
