Tower Theater, Philadelphia, PA 02/23/08

i was in the 5th row center...and the sound was totally superb. it couldn' have sounded any better. we didn't have anyone talking around us (small miracle) but...it really was a sit down thing, unfortunately. the negative was that it was turned into a sitting show for the most part. also - i am from philly and well, i have seen lots of shows here and in other cities, and the philly audiences really do seem to be among the worst. i hate to say it since i am from here....but it just seems that way. always talking. always. and yelling stuff too. and security is rough. the same security guys work -
one suggestion for a place to grab food and drinks on the way to the Tower from the west (by car probably, tho surely buses run by it) is the Westgate Pub. there is a parking garage right around the corner from the venue that usually costs about $10 to get into if you can't find on-street parking. also - the waterford inn is a total smoky dive bar, always packed and kind of fun for pre-show drinks or food (if you can get a table). it is right across the street from the tower across the alley (where the tour buses park). also - the tower has beer and drinks and you can hang in the lobby preshow or during opening acts. there aren't many other places. some decent bars on route 3 leading into upper darby or back in philly itself. looking forwa

ok - i am venturing out of lurkdom!!! what an amazing weekend! thanks millions to jeff and sue for offering up 4 nights in all for the benefit of these kids!!! edie and leigh - we couldn't have been there without you! to all the vcr's who i'd never met - it was terrific and i hope to see you again at shows down the road. as for the neil tune (motion pictures) it was my request as i'd missed the emailed request list. it really turned out not to be the right tune for the night as it was really a sing-along kind of evening. jeff kindly apologized after for not playing it...but really that was t
