  1. I got this on my Facebook wall the other day from a girl I grew up with:

Diane XXXXXXX realizes many of you will disagree with me (and that's prefectly ok), but Wilco and Death Cab for Cutie make me want to stab out my eardrums with an icepick.

    I de-friended her immediately.

  2. fuck phish

Then one day I say, "Fuck Phish. I renounce Phish. I vow never to set foot in that ocean again. That's how much 'fuck Phish'." That was seventeen years ago, and I have never since stuck so much as a toe in that ocean. And I LOVE the ocean!

    But why?

    Done with Phish.

  3. This will be the first time I'll be going by myself to a Wilco show. I'm getting a ride from OKC down to the show and (at least for right now) am planning on taking a Greyhound back to OKC. The good news is the bus station is less than a mile from the concert; the bad news is the next bus after the show doesn't leave until five in the morning.

I'm not terribly familiar with that part of Dallas. Any of you Dallas people have suggestions on something to do or somewhere to go for the five or six hours between the show and the bus that won't involve me getting murdered?

  5. Sure, he may have lost, but I'm still proud of Ice Cream Maker Guy. Nobody had any idea he even existed until my online buddy Scott founded that goofy website and petition, and several years later, he's one of the top-25 most wanted figures out there. For a total grassroots effort, that's pretty impressive, considering the amount of characters out there to choose from--most of whom have had a great deal more exposure than ol' Willrow could ever imagine. And I don't think we'll ever know the official results of the poll, but I bet that Willy had a nice turnout--who knows? Maybe even a good enough turnout to make Hasbro take notice.

The ICMG is dead; long live the ICMG.

Thanks to everyone here who voted for him.

Three years later, and things have finally come full circle. The first-ever Willrow (Ice Cream Maker Guy) Hood action figure made his official debut at this weekend's San Diego Comic Con:

He's due out later this Fall.

Thanks to everyone here who voted for him back in the day!

  6. I ask because I love Wilco, and I love Guitar Hero and Rock Band, so by that logic I think I would love it if there were some Wilco tunes in one of those games. So I'm really just wondering if they've ever said anything, one way or the other, about their thoughts on those types of games and if they would ever allow their music in one of them.

Because I could really go for a nice Wilco three-pack in Rock Band.

  7. It would qualify as one of my five least favorite Wilco songs (I think there was a thread a while back), so I would rather hear almost anything else. But I can certainly understand where you're coming from.

    Right on.

And I really just want to hear Bull Black Nova.

Me too. Looking more forward to hearing that one live than anything else on the new record. Should be a blast.

  8. Am I missing the link on the page or you just remembered the old url?

I Googled something like "wilco roadcase song request" when the new shows were announced, and it was the first thing that came up. Dunno if there's a link to it on the site anywhere.

Why? What do you want to hear?

'sokay. He's a Longhorn fan, I don't give a shit what he says, anyway. :D

[sobstory]No, Lonely 1 was my first favorite Wilco song, and I've never seen it performed live. Requested it for Tulsa last year, and it made the setlist for that night, but they didn't play it. Killed me when I found out about that. So I'm trying again this time. They don't play it very often anymore--only four times in the last two years, according to Wilcobase.[/sobstory]

  9. To be slightly pedantic, "The End" wasn't the last track on Abbey Road. Now, if W(TA) on vinyl/CD has a short, light-hearted

vocal/acoustic number tacked on at the end, I'll admit you might be onto something!

    Dark Neon, anyone?

  10. Bricktown Events Center is no Cain's, but I'm glad for once I don't have to take the turnpike for a show.

If I lived in Bricktown, I'd still rather make the trip up to Tulsa to see 'em at Cain's.

Bricktown Events Center is a dump.

  11. Had a chance to talk to one of the video guys after the show. They're the same guys that did Sunken Treasure. He said they were filming five shows for a DVD called "With Six There's Wilco" or "With Six You Have Wilco" or something like that. I believe they were Nashville, the two New Orleans shows, Houston, and Tulsa. Saw six cameras at one point.

Show was outstanding, maybe the best Wilco show I've ever seen. I requested Lonely 1, so it kind of sucks to learn it was slated for the last song, but the second half of the show was so upbeat and high-energy that Lonely 1 would have felt out of place, would have been a bit of a downer, even. Oh well--maybe next time.

  12. That's what I was thinkin'--early afternoon sometime.

Hopefully the weather cooperates. I believe Tulsa's supposed to get some snow on Thursday and Friday. Hopefully it's all gone by Saturday afternoon.
