  1. Now I know you're kidding, their last record was 12 tracks and something like 67 minutes long.

Yeah, but throw out the twelve minutes of bleeps and bloops on LTYT, and you're down to 55 minutes of actual songs. That's a good length for an album, I think.

  2. Agreed with the above, but I'd recommend checking their MySpace out first, at least.

There's a few tracks for you to listen to, and if you like what you hear, give 'em a shot live. You'll probably dig the show, and if you don't, you'll only be out ten bucks or so, anyway.

It's not my favorite music, but they put on a good show, and I'm glad I saw 'em.

  3. i'm thinking that the poster who said "You Are My Face" is LGNC has transcribed the lyrics or something and is right...

I've just listened to two different versions of LNGCA and didn't hear the phrase "you are my face" in there, anywhere at all.

Can't find that news article on NME.com though...

  4. that's probably why it thinned out so much, that's a late show...

Yeah, it was really late, at least for me. I'm used to these Wilco shows where they go on around 9:30 or so, but the opening band here didn't go on until about 10:45. Plus, I had been up since about six in the morning, so needless to say, I was beat. It was all I could do to stay awake for the forty-five minute drive home. . .

  5. Let me know how the show went!

Oh man, I'm crap at this sort of thing, so I'll just echo what most of what the OP said about the first show. Tiny venue, with John and Pat just hanging out beforehand, talking with people and selling stuff from their merch table. It was nearly-packed by the time Autumn Defense went on around 11:45, but the crowd had thinned out quite a bit as the show went on, which was disappointing. I guess those people were expecting something more Wilco-esque, I don't know. By the time the show was over at 12:45, there was maybe around three or four dozen people left.

As far as the setlist goes, like I mentioned before, I only recently started listening to them (meaning like within the last week), so I wasn't familiar enough with the titles to keep track. It did seem very similar to the one the OP posted, though, with one exception: They didn't do an encore, at least not that I'm aware of ("Simple Explanation" was the last song of the set, and then they came off stage and mingled with the remaining crowd, so I took off--I don't know if they jumped back on stage after that, but I'm guessing they probably didn't.) They played most of the new album, and a few tracks from Circles. Not a whole lot of stage banter. They played for almost exactly an hour.

Anyway, it was a good show. Tight set, good sound, good musicianship, and great harmonies, all for eight bucks. Plus, it's 1/3 of Wilco in an up-close-and-personal, intimate setting. Can't beat it.

  6. The official site mentions that "Glad It's Over" is a new track, being considered for the album. According to Wilcobase, it hasn't been played live yet.

Anyone know anything more about it? I guess it's either a totally brand-new song, or an alternate title for some other newish song we've already heard.

  7. I drove up from OKC yesterday evening and except for one little spot, it was smooth sailing all the way.

But I'm much more concerned about the drive home. From what the weather guys in OKC were saying yesterday, it sounds like we're gonna get hit with a pretty good snowfall right about the time people start getting back from the show.

Everything's just fine in Tulsa right now. Haven't had the weather on, but I'm guessing the snow won't hit here until well after midnight--so hopefully everybody can get on the road and miss it all.

  8. Did anyone tape the show? Apparently he and Glenn played the the title track from the new album and I'd love to hear it.

Wasn't SBS also known as "Lullaby for Rafters and Beams" at one point?

If they're the same song, then here's a link:

    YSI link

If they're different songs, then that was a link to another new song called "Lullaby for Rafters and Beams" with the phrase "sky blue sky" repeated several times, in the lyrics. :shifty

  9. I believe the first thread was lost forever, so here's Part Two.

Who else is going to Friday's show?

I've seen Wilco five times, but have never seen Jeff solo, so I'm really looking forward to Friday night. I'm sure it'll be a great show--and hopefully the weather will cooperate (thank God the show wasn't this weekend--holy hell).

There was some talk in the previous thread of restaurants and watering holes in the Tulsa area--so, if you're from out of town and like hamburgers, I'd like to recommend Goldie's--pretty much the best burgers I've ever had in my life. Johnnie's burgers are also very good. Both restaurants have several locations in and around the Tulsa area.

In other Okie- and Wilco-related news, I saw the other day that The Autumn Defense (John and Pat) will be playing at The Opolis in Norman on Saturday, February 10. Tickets are only like eight bucks each. Definitely planning on checking them out.

Anyway, see you guys on Friday night!

  10. I really miss the spaces between sentences, too.

Boy, Caliber - I gotta hand it to you. Your meter wasn't too far off to smell this as sarcasm. And I was just about to give this guy/girl the benefit of the doubt and zip these up and upload them to YSI.

I actually zipped these up and tried to YSI them last night, even after the somewhat-ambiguous nature of the second post, but the file was too big for me to send.

After this, I'm glad I didn't mess with it any further. What an ass.
