  1. If you look up the song at Wilcobase, and then scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find a link to a show where it was played up at The Wilco Archive.

Not going to see if it was changed on Wilco base but when it was played early on I think it was Labeled "Proving Death Again" so look that up too if Panthers isn't showing any Owl and Bear results.

  2. That's the way the audiophiles like it. Leave plenty of space between the grooves.

I think it's silly myself, but that won't prevent me from buying it.

yeah me either. I'll still get it of course but I think there will be a couple times when I would put something else on that I wont have to get up and change every 8 or 9 minutes. Mainly just because I am doing shit around the house or something and won't want to be interrupted.

  3. Silly question, but how do you tell them apart? I've kept mine sealed, but is it something on the outer packaging that makes this distinction?

on the back of the sundazed one it has a sundazed logo and says it right there. I'm pretty sure there is another that doesn't have anything to do with sundazed or whatever. And then there is the 2008 one with the cd version in there as well.

I scanned the back of my sundazed one so you could see if yours has it or not.

  4. don't know... maybe I will put it on and see if I can hear anything different.

it sounds a tiny bit different so far but I think that's just the quality... still listening though...

K so what I have found so far it this. I tried to match up playing the vinyl with my cd version. so I could see if anything went out of sync. I got it pretty close maybe a second or two off so the vocals were off for the first half of the song then they mysteriously matched up towards the end. Hopefully that helps. Also I noticed the vinyl doesn't have that lil crackling on the outro that the cd does... or maybe that's my speakers...

  5. I was not jumping on you - just putting that thought out there. People do all sorts of nutty things with files these days. I saw a group of songs not long of another band that turned out to be parts of various songs put together from different shows. And whoever did it, did not mark it as being what it was. That is like something a record company would do. :stunned

yeah I didn't think you were. That's kind of ridiculous taking parts of live songs and whatnot. It sounds like they did that with Wilding in the West, that Bonnie Prince Billy live album. They said they were "new" songs but they sounded like shitty mashups or something.

I agree that stuff like this and that should not be traded with out clearly stating what it is.

  6. yeah I dig what you are saying for sure. I just messed around with mixing those two files. it worked alright but definitely not worthy of putting out there. changed the pitch and speed a bit and the cut works pretty well but it's not worth anything but messing around I guess.

  7. Good lord, I was not even close to being that cool at 16. I think at that age it was all Floyd, Zep, Rush, Priest...

yeah i was a weird kid... I was obsessed with people like Johnny Thunders, Richard Hell, New York Dolls, VU et al. I found about about Television by reading stuff of Richard Hell. It seems like it usually happens the other way around, considering how much more popular Television is. I was way into early Punk Rock. I found out about most of those people by reading the book "please kill me" because it had stuff about the Sex Pistols and Ramones in it.

  8. First Vinyl I ever bought was either "The life and times of Jim Croce" or Tommy (sadly it was the movie soundtrack instead of the Who version). Boy that Oliver Reed can sing!

sweet. I bought both of those pretty early on too (the soundtrack version as well...) First vinyl I ever bought however was Marquee Moon when I was 16

  9. there's the obvious drop out of Venus Stop the Train on the Engineer Demos. It'd be cool to patch it up with the full version from just the "regular?" demos, that is if they aren't too different... I don't really know if they are or not I would have to listen again, Or if that even works with your assignment.

just listened looks like that wouldn't work, the key is totally different.

  10. I've seen him with this new band 3 times now. They are fantastic. Even better this tour than the last. I would love to go to one of these shows. My two favourite bands pretty much. I guess my two Favourites that are actually touring. So that would be way sweet.

  11. Actually my anal retentive nature would say that a backup backup to the same media is not as safe as the CDs, because you're backed up to different media. But that's a buttload of CDs.

If you wanted to do CDs still though you could always make them data cds instead of audio. That would save tons of room if you are saving just your mp3s which would make sense if you are backing up itunes. Even then if you have 200 gigs of music you'd need like 250 + cds to do that. Still loads better than anything else. Plus the it will save all the tags.

  12. the SY online store was selling some copies...i got the Reatard split (the Beck was sold out).

word I found the Reatard one at music stack. I should have looked at the SY store I dont know why I didn't think of that.

  13. went to another store after work and found the Leonard Cohen 7" and the dude gave me a goodie bag with some hardcore band's 7" a 12" record sampler that looks like it's going to suck... and a bunch of sampler cds.

I really really wanted to find those sonic youth splits but I had no luck :(

  14. yeah the chick working there said the wilco reissues have been delayed.

I really wanted both those sonic youth 7"s but they sold out in like the first 10 minutes of the store opening. I was a bit late because there was some stupid marathon all over the city that got me held up in traffic.
