Being There

pre-ordered SBS
lost two recent auctions for Summerteeth. Last one went for $170.
Oh and I picked up Relatively Clean Rivers on vinyl too. Just cause Tweedy says he was listening to it. It grooves in a 1975 psych-prog kinda way, and one of the songs sounds a bit like "You Are My Face" -- or "You Are My Face" sounds like it....

When that lyric arrives, does anybody else instead hear, "When I'm whacking off, I'm gonna shake it off"?
Yeah, when I first heard the song, that's what I thought he was saying. But then I convinced myself it was just another one of those "Excuse me while I kiss this guy" misunderstandings.
Now that I see this video, however, it's clear he's talking about whacking off.

Definately put Magazine Called Sunset, it worked for me!
Also I'm Always In Love and I Am Trying To Break Your Heart (reverse psychology).
Yeah, go ahead and put "Via Chicago" on there, too...

fingering for Cdim anyone?
i do it thus:
e-------------------------------------
b--------------4--------------------
g----------------5------------------
d--------------4--------------------
a-----------(3)-----------------------
E---------------------------------------
It's nicer if you play the C note on the A string but easier to leave it out

Saw here here in Brussels a few months ago, similar setlist. I've seen her a half-dozen times and there was only one show where I thought she was less than spectacular. Usually she's great.
Yeah, she has lyrics on a music stand...but fortunately they are brilliant lyrics, so we can forgive her having a little trouble remembering them....

If you think LPs sound better than CDs you are either 1)the owner of a pretty serious home stereo 2)high or 3)experiencing psychoacoustic effects.
or perhaps all three.
seriously though, i have become nostalgic for the sound of a needle hitting the record, and even of the dust. It's funny how when I was buying records as a teenager I fretted about keeping the records clean and buying dust-sleeves etc., and how I loved the perfect sound of the CD. Now that I'm older, I miss the scratchiness.
Plus, I think some records do sound better on vinyl, somehow warmer. Doobie Brothers' Toulouse Street is a perfect example. But other albums are so much better suited to CD, even classic ones like Dark Side of the Moon, you don't have to get up out of the beanbag to flip it over, etc.
Finally, I think the CD has been bad for music in one key way: the fact that it holds 80 mins of music is forcing bands to feel like they have to fill all that time, often with bad songs. Ten songs on two 20 minute sides seems about the right amount of time, thanks
enough geezing for now

It's an easy club to join
Yeah, I just bought "Being There" LP from that German eBay auction. Possible Germany!

I'm hoping to buy it on vinyl if possible... I'm feeling old-school of late.

Did you buy them from FNAC? You might have to pick them up there. It's a chain of music/electronics/books shops.
Or maybe they just mean at the ticket window.
Le Bataclan is an incredible venue BTW.
