No demo - but you can hear the early versions.
Wilcobase>Songs>Spiders (Kidsmoke)
Click on a date, scroll down to Audio Sources - look for:
Download this show from the Wilco Archive @ Owl and Bear
I really love the early version of Spiders. The performance from Cajun House in Arizona, 3/11/2002. Glenn's opening drumming is killer!

John is ever the gentleman. He's proof of the fact that nice guys actually do finish first.

this is why bands like pearl jam and now appreantly wilco are doing official bootleg's because they online trading or mail trading cirulates poor quality recordings.. I'm assuming this for wilco anyway. it's a good move for their fans.. low cost to record and release these show via roadcase and low cost for the fans.
I would disagree with that as well. There are many high quality audience recordings as well as some sbds here and there. It is cool that the band allows fans to record and trade, but I will also support them by buying the live shows from their site as long as they put them out.

The Red Rocks show is a delight. Love the subtle changes in some of the arrangements, great organ work, tunes from the new record sound great. These downloads can turn into a black hole for my money if they keep this up...
I've never been a huge fan of 'Radio Cure' but the version from this show gave me goosebumps! Thanks for Wilco for offering these sbd shows. I will keep purchasing these as long as they keep putting them out but will also download from the wilco archive as long as they allow those shows to remain up.

I'm intrigued by that word: snoozy. I feel quite sure it's not a synonym for sleepy! Splain, please.
snoozy goes back to 2002/2003 I believe. It basically means a really rocking show.
-
I listened to the recording today on the way home today and now I can step back and say without a doubt that it was a very snoozy show. yeah, that's right, I'm bringing snoozy back!

When I visited the Wilco website today, I noticed the picture on the homepage was from the Charlottesville show. I was way off in the right corner, up against the railing, so I didn't make the crowd pic Charles Harris took a lot of pictures that night; hopefully Wilco will share those with us soon. The staff there was friendly and not overbearing but they were following Wilco's guidelines of not taking photos in the venue to the T. I don't think the band would have minded people taking a picture of the stage setup. Fortunately, I had been following the conversation on the updated Wilco concert photo policy and certainly wanted to respect their wishes. Still it would have been nice to be able get some pictures being so up close and being on my home turf, so to speak. But I can imagine why they were getting stricter on the whole photo thing. After a while, it does get to be distracting and even though I enjoy taking pictures, I do feel removed from the whole experience of the concert. So it was nice to be able to put the phone away and just enjoy the concert for what it was. Still, it would be nice to see those Charles Harris c'ville pics.

The Roots are also fans. Questlove was tweeting yesterday about how cool it was to get to listen to Wilco on his lunch hour.
The Roots actually opened for Wilco back in 2005 for at least a few shows. They opened for them at Merriweather Post Pavillion, a show which I attended. The Roots were pretty good live; I wouldn't say that I'm crazy about them, but they were definitely an enjoyable opener.

Back in the day, Jeff wore a denim jacket in the middle of summer! I seriously dig that hat of his though. At the Charlottesville show, he was wearing a t-shirt with Mark Twain on it & I'm guessing a quote from Twain underneath. was anyone who was there able to make out what it said?

Dr Dog and Avett Brothers are the two best "opening" acts for Wilco I've seen. Wilco did manage to squeeze in more tunes than I expected they would be able to with the limited time. The crowd was huge. The covered section holds 7,000 and the lawn seemed almost full. Had to have been the most folks I've seen at a Wilco show that I've attended. The worst part was the drive down from Ct. on Friday. Over five hours for a usual three hour drive. Construction, accidents, lane closures, weekend get-a-way traffic and rain really took its' toll. Returned home this morning in under three hours. Just lucky I guess. GW Bridge and the Cross Bronx Exp. looked like a bitch going west this morning. Don't know how folks can drive that every day. I was sitting next to some elderly woman who told me she had seen the Avett Brothers 35 times. I asked her if she had ever seen Wilco and she said no. I told her she would become a Wilco fan by the end of the night. Unfortunately for her and her party, they left before Wilco came on and never returned. They didn't arrive until after Dr. Dog. It must be Avett or nothing for some. Their loss I guess.
it would be awesome to have the Avetts tour extensively with Wilco. I actually saw Dr. Dog open for My Morning Jacket @ Starr Hill years ago. I wasn't very impressed with them though. I would certainly be willing to give them another try, but I could take them or leave them.

very little chatter from Thom, mostly 2 hours of face-melting music. there was a humorous moment during you & whose army where Thom turned around & made a funny face to the crowd then he raised his hands as to pump up the crowd. in the beginning of the second encore, Thom received especially loud applause that he feinted staggering back from shock. spent most of the night in front of Johnny, which delighted the lady friend to no end. Friday, I received an email that WASTE members would be allowed in @ 6. my friend & I showed up at 6:30 and the line was going in. we made our way to the gate in front of the stage. so that was pretty cool. Caribou opened & they were better live than what I had sampled on YouTube.

Great photos! Drove down from Burlington for this show and am very glad I did! You review is spot on. Deamer adds greatly to the bands overall sound - not just the Kings and In Rainbows material. Airbag, There There, and The Gloaming have all been reworked with a new sense of urgency and precision. Great show - looking forward to seeing them one more time in Montreal in a couple of weeks...
I would agree with the sentiment on Deamer. I also think the band mentally & emotionally on board with how they play and what they write & record. last nights performance of Bodysnatchers was particularly ferocious. I can't wait to see them again in Cambden in 10 days

I guess it is inevitable that the musicians of his generation are passing,, but it is very sad. I saw Doc and Merle a couple times back in the 70s. They were amazing (and I saw them at the amazing Amazingrace).

I was fortunate enough to see Doc several years ago at Merlefest (the festival dedicated to the memory of his son). It is awesome what he was able to do with just a guitar and his voice. Truly talented man. Merlefest was a loving legacy to his son because the festival, despite the size and the amount of acts on the lineup, it still felt like a family atmosphere. It was really neat to see Sam Bush and John Paul Jones on the same stage doing a bluegrass version of 'Whole Lotta Love'. Hopefully Merlefest will continue in the years to come.

In the article about Dick Latava, it mentioned in the first three shows that he suggested for release was the 10/11/77 show from Norman, OK. I had received this show in a trade about seven or eight years ago and even to this day, it's one of my favorite shows. The energy on this show and the songs on the setlist are excellent. There were portions of this show released on an early Road Trips, but it really does deserve a full release.

I listened to the stream last night while working late, not expecting much, but I enjoyed it so much I played it again. Very surprising, because I usually find her stuff a real snoozefest. I highly recommend giving it a try, even if you don't think you'll like it.
Hi Diane! long time no see!
I didn't listen to her solo stuff for a long time because I'm not usually into that soft jazzy stuff, but hearing a live performance of hers from farm aid a couple of years ago changed my impression of her. The Fall was a different kind of album from her early output.

anytime that Dangermouse is involved, it's likely to get interesting.

Hearing about this today really bummed me out. although I've only been a casual listener to the Beastie Boys, I remember them being one of the first groups I heard outside of the music that I heard at home. It was a tape of License To Ill and hearing Brass Monkey and Paul Revere. I thought he was getting better, so I was shocked to hear this.

after nearly five years since they last played Charlottesville, Wilco are finally returning, I am very excited about this, to say the least. if anyone else from the board is going, get in touch with me if you're interested in meeting up.

I'm actually wearing my K-Settes shirt today. I won't say how many wilco shirts I have but it's an embarrassing number
