  1. overall I think U2 tickets have not sold out as fast as they expected. TOO EXPENSIVE. You can still get great seats in LA San Jose and Arizona. They lowered prices on same tickets in NYC for new 2 shows. 118 bucks for same seat that 300 bucks bought for the first 4. The resell market for tickets on TM is ridiculous. Everyone I know that joined fan club before 2nd presale were able to nail down GA. Having a residency vs touring entire country should have made tour cost cheaper and would been nice to have prices reflect that.

When Zoo TV arena tour went on sale they sold out in minutes all over the country.

I wonder if they will announce some great openers to help sell out tour or if they might plan on doing evening with U2 and play longer then their 2 hours norm? Not sure Larry can handle longer shows with his back etc.

There is definitely going to be some type of limit view or screens etc to have prices cheaper in corner of venues vs side or ends. Might not say it on ticket but I would imagine unless they have circular screen over center of stage like 360 there will be obstructions. Or the speakers hanging from Ceiling etc. Or will they do a POPMART mono sound system?

Lets hope they have a Zoo TV tour concept or something that will be newsworthy and make a splash if they want to do stadiums next summer. Seems the U2 base has shrunk but mainly do to ticket price. How can most folks afford travel and lodging costs plus tickets. Be easy to drop over a $1000 bucks per person.

Also interesting that Bono bike accident got no TMZ coverage. Imagine if Kim Kardashian or Kayne had same accident? Hard to believe no one caught a video or photo of accident or helping Bono. Someone of his level would normally be caught on film and shared on news. Not even a Ambulance chaser photo?

I hope Bono heals quickly and the tour goes well but for me U2 sold out with this album and tour making it unavailable to the working class. I feel they have enough cash in the safe and could actually help music business by keeping prices lower. Taylor Swift is coming after your fans!!!!

Rolling Stones vs U2 as top grossing tour is really what is in play. They have a friendly competition on how much cash they can get out of your wallet. I hear Mick and Bono have a gold deposit room where they meet to count their bars!

My first U2 Concert was at Alumni Hall at Brown University 1982 which was an old gym. Not more then 500 folks there. Have seen every tour since sorry to miss this one. Hope everyone going enjoys.

  2. if they do DC next year they would announce around same time as this year and your membership is only good for one year. Not sure they ever given fanclub member more then one code per year. I would grab this year if possible as next year might not happen with slow sales overall. They had planned 4 more shows for MSG and are only doing 2 at the moment. Good luck.

  3. I managed to snag an awesome single for $86 for the Sunday MSG show in Section 201 Row 1! Not too bad if you ask me!

yea not bad as two sections over in 226 row 11 is 300 bucks and still available. hope there is not an obstructed view from corners? Maybe the screens they will use? But in the door for 85 and you can always upgrade your seat!!! Congrats will you get the Innocence setlist or the experience?

  4. Checking tickets the only deal in u2 was the floor GA for about 80 bucks. I am sure most fan club members were able to get those but not general public.

If you check now on TM there are still singles for most shows. They are getting close to 300 for seats lower level club level and upper level with a few end sections for 120 ish and the cheap seats are on both far ends upper deck. There was less then 500 cheap seats for each venue.

Stage will be center on floor. The VIP seats are going for 500 and red zone might be 600.

I use to be long time fan club member but could no longer afford 40 bucks a year for a tour every 5 years. It did make it easy to get tickets to tours and I know fan club members and they all got GA this tour. but could only buy 2 tickets total. (long standing members had first grabs and some of the others were not able to secure GA on 2nd day. So the membership fee makes the price apx 150 each for GA and more if they bought reserve seat. Nice subsidy. Not sure if they will add as many shows since they did not sell out instantly. Probably in LA NY but others cities probably 1 vs 2 new shows. Only hitting a few cities makes it even more expensive for most fans when you add travel etc. Especially NY Chicago and LA... rooms ain't cheap.

My only hope is they come back to south at some point for stadium or arena on next leg. I am sure they will hit USA twice if they feel the $$$ is here to be taken! Just too much money IMO>

  5. listening  to the etree radio torrent now. Nice sound great show.

My daughter attended and has seen Wilco 3-4 times. Said she enjoyed but with so many songs she was not familiar with made show not as good for her. I explained she got quite a treat or rarities and never played songs !!!!!

She would have enjoyed night one by looking at setlist. This show just didn't have her favorite tunes.

They were in balcony with great sight lines to band etc. and sound was great as light show. Overall she was glad she went and over time will come to appreciate something unique that most bands will never do!!!!

Will be fun to see rest of the set lists as they set a good precedent with Nights 1 & 2.

  6. Sometimes I fear we are using our "smart" devices to willingly handicap ourselves as humans.

Jeff mentioned in Raleigh how when someone pulled out Ipad and began to take pictures in Nashville and that

it no longer felt like a concert.

Too bad the don't play the Pre recorded message used on  EVENING WITH WILCO tour which stated no recording or phones to be used. Guess it sounded bitchy but at least it made folks more self conscious not to do that all night.

Jeff is mellowing with age!!!! But I do feel phones are used too much and interferes with the connection one has to the music.

  7. heads up for all as part of tonights show will be broadcasted on Chicago Radio

Then get a taste for what's to come this summer by tuning in to hear the band live on XRT tomorrow at 9pm CT from Chicago's Riveria Theatre. This will be night two of Wilco's 6 Winterlude shows, a residency that is part of XRT's Concert for Kids series. Those attending the shows, we encourage you to bring a toy or book to donate to Chicago area children's hospitals.

Will be interesting if they play any of the same songs back to back. viva Chicago and California Stars Handshake drugs all on first night!!!!

Enjoy  I am living vicaroulsy through daughter tonight!!!! Also how crowded is the floor etc? Do you need to get in early to get sweet spot in center? and what time did they start last night?
  8. Rolling stone reports Bono injuries were pretty serious. Fracture in face, collar bone and arm as well as his pinky on other arm. Seems he tried to avoid another biker before crashing.

I wonder if that biker stopped to help and how he felt if by chance he was a U2 fan. Hope Bono can heal quickly but I would say it will be 6-8 weeks of recovery.

Dr says he expects full recovery which is great!!!!

  9. bono broke his arm so cancelled fallon. Riding a bike in central park is dangerous. So not sure if they will make the acoustic show or not. As far as tour I doubt new album will last in set list as it not being played much and I doubt folks want to hear it vs hits. THey will start tour playing new album but if they want to do stadiums again it will have to be a greatest hits tour.

Them changing setlist every night would be a big change for them. most they been able to do is 3 song changes a night at most. Not sure how accomplished they are with playing songs with out rehearsing. But it was smart of them to go with I phone release so they got publicity as Taylor swift stole the Gold with her release. THey got to realize the record buying public is in their tweens.

  10. Sorry for the late reply, just saw this.

She was very good, although the ticket price was a bit high. The setlist made me happy, as she did not perform a lot of obscurities. I think there were only about 3 or 4 songs I didn't know. She does not do Boulder to Birmingham at every show, so I was pleased that she did that for an encore. Also did nice versions of Pancho & Lefty and Sin City, both of which I love. Was hoping for Pancho, never even considered she would do Sin City (which I have loved since I discovered Uncle Tupelo's cover of it). Great show overall.

Thanks and glad u enjoyed. I got to see one of her Landmine benefits where they just sat in circle jamming. Bruce Cockburn Steve Earle etc. She is a lovely lady and performer. Wish I could go to the evening of emmylou but tickets are pretty steep as well.

  11. Beck                                                                Morning Phase

The Ghost of the Saber Tooth Tiger                Midnight Sun

    Thom York                                                       Tomorrows Modern Boxes

    Jeff Tweedy                                                      Sukierae

    Gary Clark Jr                                                    Live

    St Vincent                                                        St Vincent

  12. I'm really psyched, as this is the first chance I've had to catch her live.

How was Miss Emmylou? Seen her many times through the years. First time was when she opened for Willie Nelson and Jimmy Carter was in attendance. They are doing a special show for her in DC at DAR Constitution Hall in January with all the folks she has influenced and played with over the years. http://songsofemmylou.com/about.php

would be a wonderful show to see IMO> Tickets are a little steep but I am sure will be worth while or wait to see it on DVD!

  13. Where are the numbers listed?

And, Wilco, if you're out there, THANK YOU!  This is a fantastic release.  Top quality from top to bottom.  The music, the package, the photos, the write ups, and especially the liner notes from Jeff.

on the back lower right side.

  14. I think it's humerous that anyone on this board would purchase the What's Your 20 album, for anything other then completion purposes.

glad you got a good laugh. I find it nice for completion and to have a cd to drop in an play for friends not familar with Wilco. My friend even said after Raleigh and his first WIlco show or hearing their music, that being a greatest hits show it would be hard for him to buy a CD that would give him a good overview.

    Now I can recomend What's your 20.

  15. Whistling? Viva Chicago?

at the 1:43 mark there is a guitar feedback sound that when played loud was making think someone was whistling. You hear it again around the 3>27 mark as well. Guess I never heard that before.

  16. I received my Vinyl Box set as well as Whats Your 20 cd. I decided after seeing Raleigh and tickets only 45 bucks I would support em with purchasing the music!!! Great idea to tour the Best Of with playing the best of shows. Haven't opened them but did notice I got 6013/7000 so either they are random numbers being shipped or they have sold almost all of them. Will be interesting to see who gets 1 and 7000.

Looking forward to seeing how the Winterlude plays out. Could they play a few of the Demos or other rarities to make the week enjoyable.

  17. That's exactly what it felt like. It was surreal.

I was very self-conscious about blocking the view for so many other people, but what I could I do? I would have gladly stepped off the platform if everyone else would have.

I would have been on platform but my friend wasn't willing to stand there for hour 1/2 so we sat on front row between Tweedy and Nels

I expect the sound and view from center lawn would have been the sweet spot bringing a picnic basket of food and hangin out with bottle of wine till show time. But what a treat to see them in small place and even more unique for the PLATFORM FOLKS> Tweedy " you guys are really close"  THe stage is only a foot or two above the platform so they were almost eye level in the front row. Classic Wilco show IMO.

  18. There really didn't seem to be a sweet spot for this show, unless you're a right-up-front kind of person (I like the sound better a few rows back). In the pit, where I'd normally like to be, you couldn't see the band AT ALL. Back at the lawn, it was way more removed than I'd like, but at least you could see from there. I think the venue was great for its intimate size, but poorly designed for this kind of show.

Standing on the front row was sweet spot for sound IMO. I heard solos on each side of sound system with drums crips and sharp and vocals perfect.

Only trouble was not being able to see final acoustic jam with folks sitting on stage....

It is weirdest setup for a stage and I did see on person take a fall off the back side it wasn;t pretty. I beleive the reason they don't change it was that it is part of an outdoor sculpture. The 200 folks standing on platform probably feel like they had a private show with the band.
