  1. What a wonderful night. So glad they played Cars Can't Escape and the acoustic Spiders was a treat. Tonight was my 30th bday and I couldn't have spent it in a better way. However, standing next to the speaker stack for most of the show wasn't the best idea...

I meet your last night and glad you enjoyed your 30th. Standing on front row seats was perfect for sound and view. Jeff was in rare banter form last night IMO. He was even asked if he "was High" and his response was "no I am Low but not that Low or something like that. Band was in great form and set list for me was perfect path through their career and enjoyed the lighter night vs Hard Jam of recent tours. Loved the finale except with them sitting on stage couldnt see Neils etc. The venue with the weird stage frontage makes for unique setting but sight lines were probablly better higher up. I felt the sound was perfect with nice seperation of each member. Had a Virgin Wilco fan with me and he left impressed saying it was one of his better shows.

I felt the set list was perfect from start to finish with nice flow.

THe girl singing with Jeff was classic and believe I have been to 3 of her shows. Raleigh Charleston and Dpac possibly House of Blues.

Jeff's comment to fan confusing him for girl was classic and his one that I have been mistaken for girl and then saying being in front of Neils Amp had transormed him was great. And the gentleman Jeff is he goes over and personally apoligizes before starting next song. So nice to see Jeff able to enjoy the show and fans even with folks video taping etc which he doesn't like.

I rate it #2 after Raleigh 2004 at Memorial Hall.

I hope there are some recordings from last night that surface. I didn't check to see if tapers were on the Hill.

  2. What a great show. SOund was great from 8 row. Loved Nick Lowe as opener. Crowd up front was quiet and the band seemed in great mood. especially Jeff. Loved it when he said hard to sing lyrics to songs u dont know . Get use to it.... And he fire off a new song..... One Sunday is incredible live and so fortunate to hear them play entirely. Not many bands will put so much effort on asong from new album. (wish U2 would play some of their Acoustic Album songs vs just the big songs)

I love the album and shot out to Kung Fu Nation. I got my album package Friday so had long time to play and get to know songs.

Highlights Jesus but think it was earlier in set Art was a great opener. the ending of Hand Shake Drugs , Impossibel Germany . I requested Love My Label on web site and to get song played with Nick Lowe made my night. Walkin was good as well compared to when they played it in Chapel Hill.

Also fun moment during Nicks set john and pat sat right in front of us. I got thinking must be big fan as dude has haircut just like Pat but not seeing face untill they left i never put it together... Both of them look like 25 years old... Now i just wish i been able to shake hand and say how much i love the new album etc etc

Again I am always amazed at how well the band reproduce the sound of record live. I enjoyed this more then the Evening with WIlco tour and might have been as good as my first which was at Progress Energy right after Nels joined.

One Sunday is probably as close as we can get to a Tupelo sound IMO

Will be interesting to hear what folks have to say as it seemed most had not heard new songs Great night outdoors after 10 days of rain. Off to listen to The Whole Love over and over again...

  3. I respectfully disagree with your opinions. I am more than satisfied with all of the recordings that I downloaded. There wasn't one show where I was like "Shit, I need to get a different recording than this shitty one." If I were to pick one that made me pray to Baby Jesus, it would be the 04-02 one from NYC Taper.

    What I Downloaded:

    3-22

    3-23

    3-27

    3-29

    4-02

    4-06 (& Webcast)

For the purpose of comparative analysis: There were a few shows from the Minor League Ballpark Tour that sounded distant and tinny and/or metallic sounding.

Is your 4/2 show this source

Also I like Durham 3/27 George Wang Recording picking up mostly Stage amps since he

    was in 3rd row.

  4. If u listen to Richmond boot you will hear jeff ask if someone paid a lot of money to be there and talk. and he says he always wonder why people pay money to then talk. But we are here to SERVE> (thought that was interesting comment)

But you could just stay home and save the $$$> So I think he is serious about people yakking...... Sure wish folks would shut up. :thumbup

  5. after hearing broadcast and seeing 2 shows this tour I say Jeff is serious about wishing folks would just listen to music and probably playing on his fans with the attitude he projects from stage....

I assume the reason REM went to Ireland to record their live album was for this reason as well. Quiet fans make great live recordings.

  6. i just told allison that druing this song i am forever going to think of the asshat drunk guy that ripped up his ticket and threw it at jeff during the atlanta show

He dedicated this song in DUrham to that drunk in atlanta..... Said he wanted jeff to help get his friend back into the show.....
