  2. Neither is the new Spoon.

But isn't there no release date for "stroke their brains"?

Last I checked, it is still slated for a "Spring 2007" release....kinda like the new Ghostface/ MF Doom record, which is supposed to be out in February...I guess they still have like 14 hours left..

    ANYHOW, here I wait.

  3. So in the second week of April, I'm going on a trip with some friends to Moscow and St. Petersburg. Beirut and the Borat Soundtrack aside, could anybody throw some Eastern-Bloc / Russian music suggestions my way? Regardless of genre -- even ballets are OK! It's a long overnight train ride from Moscow to St Petersburg...

    Thanks!

  4. You guys are seriously going to listen to it when it leaks? I thought there would be a lot of "hush-hush no-spoiler" action.

As you can see, I climbed aboard long after AGIB came out, so I'm new to this place in terms of studio releases.

Tempting as that oink torrent may be, I think I'm going to wait. I'll download any ol' cd any day of the week, but there's something momentous about opening the shrinkwrapping and the first few plays through.

  5. Please can we not let Uncle Wilco win?

I mean, yes, I hate having to convert from FLAC to wav so I can stick it on my iPod and such, but it's so important and special to me to be able to come home from a show, and within a few days (thanks to these generous tapers) be able to hear this experience. It's a token I wish I could get from all the shows I went to. But these solo/Wilco shows are particularly important to me because they're all so damn good.

Yeah, FLAC can be a pain to non audiophiles, but, tapers, never, ever stop tapin'. For ever UncleWilco there's fifteen guys like me singing your praises every single day.

  6. Personally, the only reason I ever bought the Golden Smog stuff was for Gary's songs. As I recall, the last album seems to be more of Dan Murphy/Kraig Johnson deal. Weird Tales, for me, is the best one. I do not care for power pop type songs - I hope the Gary and Mark album does not sound like that.

The only Jeff songs I really care for are Radio King, I Can't Keep From Talking, and Long Time Ago.

    No "Pecan Pie"???! :blink :upset

  7. Help Help Help

I am at my wit's end with this whole FLAC thing. Just when I think I've got it, It doesn't work. I tried encoding to WMA with the VU player (because it won't convert to .mp3), and I've got this horrific robo-mess that sounds ilke a laser gun when the audience applauds. Can someone please please please post as mp3? Zip? Anything? PM or whatever...I'll be here all night....

  8. Ok, this isn't really related to Wilco's music, which is why I posted in here

But I was listening to "Laminated Cat," which mentions "a unified theory of everything." And it got me thinking. There is a branch of philosophy that maintains that everythign in the universe -- water, air, the trees, everything -- was meant only for human use and consumption. I think it may be called the Theory of Everything, but I cannot recall the name of it.

OK, you philosophy majors, here's a chance to put that degree to use!

    Thanks for your help!

Every time I peruse bemydemon.org, I pause and think about how much I want to listen to a compilation of Wilco covers. I've heard a few here and there (auld triangle, the reaper, TB, poli sci), but I'm positively dying to hear I Wanna Be Sedated, Carrot Flowers and TV Eye. Does anybody have these? Does a comp. of covers exist? Anybody want to get together and do it?

  10. I gladly volunteer my services, but I dont know how to execute the task....if you want to give me a brief tutorial (if thats even possible) would love to help

You'd have to ask renic...I have no idea, either. It was just a suggestion.

    Thanks for your volunteering!

  11. She was cute, but the songs bored me except the third and last ones. She certainly had a formula down. Pluck violin strings, loop. Play with bow, loop. Get attractive model-looking guy with high cheekbones to blunk and twiddle on laptop, loop. Get drummer to ostensibly wear headphones and softly tap on cymbals. Then end with no climax.

I mean, I liked it, but.. eh
