  1. Dude......you just made my whole shitty ass Friday night with that clip.
  2. man, I figured someone would have thrown in a reference to a certain "sunken treasure" lyric by now. Also, do you guys remember on the IATTBYH DVD where Jeff's playing "magazine called sunset," the phone rings and interrupts him, and when he starts the song again he comes in off-key and makes that funny embarrassed face? Jeff is one of my favorite singers ever, so when I started this thread it was more out of a need to discuss deeper elements of the music on SBS, not to trash Jeff's singing ability.
  3. While listening to SBS for the first time I couldn't help but notice that at the beginning of What Light Jeff's vocal is horribly out of tune. The specific part is ("if you feel like singin a song, and you want other people to sing along, just sing what you feel"...Most of the wrong pitch happens on the word "feel" where he aims too low but eventually slides up and is on the right note by the end of the word. For those of you who actually care to check this out, go back and give this section a couple listens. While it's certainly strange for a band to release a final, mastered track with such
  4. Woke up this morning hoping to see that my amazon order had shipped....only to find an e-mail saying it will be further delayed and might not ship until November. Amazon really let me down on this one. Going to local BestWus now on a search and rescue mission. Wish me luck......
  5. I also pre-ordered from Amazon back in early September and it says mine has not yet shipped either. I don't remember why I didn't order form Wilcoworld in the first place. Thinking about going to Tower Records tomorrow and picking one up but since they're in the middle of their going out of business sale, I don't know if I'll be able to return it when mine comes in the mail. Damn damn damn .....
  6. The little ditty named "?" is an Elizabeth Cotton song called "I'm Going Away" Check this out http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/wma-pop-up/...5424746-8107942 for those of you who haven't heard of Miss Cotton, she was a housekeeper for the Seeger family (Pete, Mike, etc...) who played nasty fingerstyle guitar left handed (on a right-handed guitar strung normally). Late in her life the Seegers heard her play, Mike recorded her, and she toured a bit before she died. Her most well known song is "Freight Train"
  7. Also, when he plays the G minor it's in first inversion (3rd scale degree, Bb in this case, is the bass note) like in Magazine Called Sunset ---------G------------------Gmin(Bb bass)----------D....etc... (in relation to capo) "....me ever forget this impossible longing for you.........."
  8. As a W&M alum, Williamswus native, and huge Wilco freak, I think this would be an appropriate time for my first VC post . I graduated from W&M last year and now live in Arizona. Once I saw that they were playing at a venue 3 miles from my house, there was no question that I would have to see this show- no matter the cost. Knowing that the student activities board was putting this on, it crossed my mind that I could have saved a few bucks if I'd had a current student friend buy the tickets. I decided that it wasn't worth the trouble and promptly requested off from work, bought 2 GA tic
