  1. What took so long!!! You knew this was coming...

    "August 1, 2007

German authorities said Tuesday they have received documents from doping expert Werner Franke that he claims show Tour de France winner Alberto Contador of Spain was involved in doping.

Franke said he has documents from the Operation Puerto doping investigation last year in Spain that show that Contador, who won the doping-marred Tour on Sunday, had used a testosterone booster and an asthma product called TGN.

''We can confirm we have received the documents, and they will be incorporated into procedures of the district attorney's office,'' Christian Brockert, a spokesman for the Federal Criminal Police Office in Germany, told the Associated Press.

Contador, who rides for the Discovery Channel team, missed the 2006 Tour when his former team, Liberty, was disqualified because he and four other riders -- plus the team director and doctor -- allegedly were linked to Operation Puerto."

  2. It's decent. Really small place south of Lincoln Square. It's not really a "tour stop" sorta place like Schubas and Empty Bottle, but it get's local, newer bands. It's only about 5-6 years old, but it was pre-fabbed to look like a "dive bar".

  3. ....and he was predicted to win! ouch. classy sport this is.

    "Tour de France Leader Out

Tour de France leader Michael Rasmussen of Denmark has been removed from the race for violating a team rule. Rasmussen, 33, won Wednesday's stage and was expected to celebrate in Paris on Sunday"

  4. More cheaters.... Italian team kicked out.

"The Cofidis team pulled out of the Tour de France on Wednesday after rider Cristian Moreni of Italy failed a doping test and was led away by police at the end of the 16th stage."

Cops actually escorted him off the course. Pretty awesome.

The only way to clean this race is up is to limit the field solely to the French riders. It's their race and they are the only ones with the integrity and moral compass to not cheat.

  5. This is getting humorous.....

"UCI discussing allegations Rasmussen asked racer to carry doping materials

GENEVA -- The head of cycling's world governing body says it would be bad for the sport if current Tour de France leader Michael Rasmussen goes on to win the race.

"With all this speculation around him it would be better if somebody else were to win," UCI president Pat McQuaid told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Monday. "The last thing this sport needs is more speculation about doping."

McQuaid added, however, that the Danish rider has "broken no rules, so from that point of view ... you have to give him the benefit of the doubt."

Rasmussen was dropped from Denmark's national team last week for failing to notify anti-doping officials of his whereabouts for drug testing before the Tour began.

He missed two drug tests by Denmark's anti-doping agency in May and June, and failed to respond to two warnings from the International Cycling Union since April 2006. A third infraction with either the UCI or the Danish agency would be considered equivalent to a positive test and lead to a ban."

Don't hold breath for 'Deadwood' movie

NEWS AND NOTES from television's summer press tour in Beverly Hills: Remember those two "Deadwood" movies that HBO promised us when they so rudely canceled the remarkable series? Well, don't hold your breath.

"It's doable, but frankly it's daunting," said Michael Lombardo, president of the HBO programming group. He went on to rattle off all the obstacles, including the fact that creator David Milch is exhausted from working on "John From Cincinnati" and that it would be a major pain in the neck to round up all of the actors, many of whom have signed on with other shows.

One key factor will be the fate of "Cincy." If HBO renews it, Milch would be expected to start writing the second season very soon and that would leave little room for "Deadwood." On the other hand, "Cincy" isn't exactly burning up the Nielsen charts, so Milch could have some time on his hands.

Either way, we're in a holding pattern for the time being.

When pressed for the odds on a "Deadwood" movie happening, HBO co-president Richard Plepler put the numbers at "50-50." I say we sic Swearengen on those #%$@ers right now.

  7. It still amazes me how Messr. Armstrong could soundly whip all these guys who were/are taking performance enhancing drugs. They all had an illegal edge, yet he could beat them all, soudly, without any chemical assistance... Makes one wonder.

There are people that still believe Iraq had WMDs too. And that there is a Tooth Fairy.

  8. People always want to somehow say that this is Jesus. It might be God. But I doubt that it is Jesus. I think God manifests himself to everyone differently. All I can say is that this show is amazing. By the way, there were more than 12 people at this event. Someone I know was asking if there again was some parallel to Jesus. Probably not. I wonder if John told Link to get back in the game because he is "the devil."

It's supposed to be Jesus (or at least a representation of the Son of God). Hence the acronym of the show's title (JFC=Jesus F Christ). From his speech, its not "doubting Thomas" (verb), its "Doubting Thomas" (the name). The dr. that moved in is supposed to be Luke (who was also a doctor). The other men that are in the hotel are to represent apostles. Ed ONeill is Peter. The blue guy is supposed to be the guy that Jesus brought back to life. If you google, you'll see that the hotel room numbers each represent something related to the characters. The show was supposed to keep expanding these roles (it's been cancelled and the 10th will be the last episode), and more men were to move in the hotel. Ultimately, Im guessin, John will probably be crucified to some extent.

  9. And Biko was a a "powerful, yet evil African American"? He didn't come across that way in the Peter Gabriel song ...

Uh no. The point is Cry Freedom couldnt be sold as a movie about Stephen Biko so they re-created the movie to be about the white guy (the Kevin Kline character) who WROTE Biko's biography and Biko ended up as a secondary character who was helped by this "White Angel".

  10. Meh...

I hate when they make up characters in true stories just to sell a movie (IE, another Denzel movie, "Biko")... the Denzel Washington character is real, this script was floating around and had multiple directors and stars attached (including Cheadle) over the past few years, could never get made...so what'd they do? Rewrite the movie to include a part for a White Movie Star (Russel Crowe) to play the "Reporter with a Heart of Gold, Conflicted but drawn at the same time to a powerful, yet evil African American". Would have liked to have seen the original script shot as planned.

  11. This whole story makes you want to take a shower after reading it.

In addition to shooting up the kid with illegal HGH, there are supposedly more details coming out that haven't been released yet that are even more vile.

This guy isn't "sad", he's pathetic and evil. It's even more pathetic that CNN and the other news outlets try to simply write it off to "Roid Rage" as if to find an excuse for why a guy, who has had an order of protection filed against him, is capable of familicide. He did it because he was a cowardly, vile human being. No different than the less famous Christopher Vaughns and the Bobby Cutts.

The only humorous thing about this is watching the WWE idiots try to half-assed defend this guy or the WWE's 3 hr tribute to a child killer.

  12. here is the detail...

So here is what I found out. The guy at the bar is also credited as Nikki Leotardo. The same actor played him in the first part of season 6 during a brief sit down concerning the future of Vito. That wasn't that long ago. Apparently, he is the nephew of Phil. Phil's brother Nikki Senior was killed in 1976 in a car accident. Absolutely Genius!!!! David Chase is truly rewarding the true fans who pay attention to detail.

So the point would have been that life continues and we may never know the end of the Sopranos. But if you pay attention to the history, you will find that all the answers lie in the characters in the restaurant. The trucker was the brother of the guy who was robbed by Christopher in Season 2. Remember the DVD players? The trucker had to identify the body. The boy scouts were in the train store and the black guys at the end were the ones who tried to kill Tony and only clipped him in the ear (was that season 2 or 3?)."

  13. So, it's coming out from the hardcore fanatics that all of the characters in the diner have popped up in key episodes throughout the tenure of the series.

    - The Boy Scouts were in the train store

    - The trucker in the USA hat is the guy Christopher stole the DVDs from way back when

    - The two african americans were the guys that shot at Tony when he was buying those dilapidated properties

    there are others....

the point being that Tony's past can come back to haunt at any time. This was being discussed on the radio today.
