  1. Two tickets for the Jeff Tweedy show at the Majestic in Dallas this Saturday. We are unable to go, and are only asking face value. These are hard, printed tickets - so we will have to meet in person. (We're scrap bookers and always go printed tickets when possible, this time it bit us).

These are great seats. 100 level - Right Orchestra, row M, seats 1 and 2!

  2. I've been baffled why if Jeff wants everyone standing and fired up (which I concur with), every show in the DFW area since the Palladium show in 2009 has been booked in a venue with no GA section. UNT Auditorium, Fair Park Music Hall, McFarlin Auditorium, and Toyota Music Factory. It's almost always resulted in tension because lots of people are sitting. Same thing in Austin in 2017 at Bass Hall ("you guys look like an oil painting"). I think it ruined the 2011 show because the band wasn't drawing any energy from the crowd (they only played 20 songs and Jeff seemed pissed). At Toyota, both times they've played the front section has been configured with seats, but there are lots of shows there that have that entire front section as GA. Why can't Wilco do that? Is it the Platinum Ticket thing? I really hope in the future they will play places with GA up front, with seats in the back for those who want or need to sit. Last night was rescued by the migration up front - before that it was dead in there.

I won't pretend to know how it works but I've seen many shows there and this was the first time I've seen seats all the way to the front with no pit area.  Ryan Adams, Stone Temple Pilots, Beck/Cage the Elephant/Spoon, Father John Misty and Social Distortion all had a pit.  I was really surprised that there wasn't, and shocked at the disparity in price point on some of the tickets.  Even within the same section.  Seats that were 20 feet away from were literally double price from those just a few rows back.  Sometimes within the same row even.  I expect there to be some, but the gap was bizarre.

I don't like the venue itself, because it's absurdly priced in every aspect - but I can't stand going into downtown Dallas, so it's extremely convenient.

  3. Really loved it, took a first timer who loved it too.

The ticket prices for this were insane, but that's this venue.  But about 3 songs in, Jeff invited everyone down and all bets were off.  And I was pleasantly surprised at how cool and civil everyone was, including venue staff.  Sucks if you paid a premium price for a ticket for no reason I guess, but it was nice that in a venue with no GA, everyone was given free reign to just go wherever they wanted.

Great set, fun banter, and probably the first I've been to in years where the entire crowd was super cool.  Not a drunken dick to be found and even more surprising, no one really watching the show through their phone the entire time, at least anywhere that I saw which is rare for the DFW shows, at least in my experience (this is #15 for me).

  4. Ha, you're so right!  I've been out of town and grabbed our tix from the road so when I saw the price I just swallowed hard and went for it.  Called my wife and were lamenting that we went for the local show instead of opting for a road trip to Cain's.  If you've not been to Cain's you are in for a treat!  We attended the show a few years back that ended up on the Ashes DVD and it was among my very favorite and most memorable shows.

I've been to Cain's only once for Band of Horses.  This was also "a few years back" in my mind - and now I'm not looking up the actual date thanks to the above post.

  5. Got 4 seats, 3rd row for Dallas/Irving!  Super excited, and it's all great, except... over $1k?!?

The pricing for this show is absurd and erratic.  Down front some seats are 80 (plus fees) per ticket, and then seats in the same row and section, but 2-3 seats down, are $180.  Some seats in the first 4-5 rows are ~$275 per ticket.  This is a relatively new venue and this has been my experience every time, I can't stand it there.  The cheapest decent seats are literally double priced for a pair than I paid at Cain's the night before in Tulsa.

We are going to beat the bots and kick it old school.

Wilco, Tony Margherita Management, and AEG Live SW have given us the opportunity to sell to you, the loyal Wilco fan, tickets BEFORE they go on sale the general public on Friday 12/19 to their show which is Wednesday April 22, 2015 on the Southern Methodist University campus at the lovely McFarlin Auditorium (which now I might add sells beer & wine by the way.)

    THE DEETS:

    Thursday December 18, 2014

    10am

    Good Records

    1808 Greenville Ave.

    Dallas, TX 75206

    (4 ticket limit per person-cash only-$49.50 a ticket)

We will have 100 (great seats, 2nd only to the band's fan club) to sell to you with NO SERVICE CHARGE.

The only catches are it will be cash only and you will have to interact with humans rather than buying online. (Hell you might even buy someone an LP for Xmas while you are here.)

Well I got up at 6am for this, drove an hour and a half to Good Records through Dallas rush hour and waited another hour in line for this.  And while I sincerely do appreciate the gesture because this is a very cool move, the tickets that were available were not as advertised.  They aren't "great seats, second only to the band's fan club" at all.  Every ticket was up in the balcony.  I grabbed a pair just to be safe since it's a small venue, but I'm going to try tomorrow morning for something closer on the floor.

Also a big shout out to the scalpers in line leaving actual fans in the back going home empty handed.

    Pretty weak overall.

  7. I just read that Richard Linklater's new film, Boyhood, will feature Hate It Here on the soundtrack. There's very good buzz on this film. Linklater filmed it over 12 years, following the young boy from age 6 to 18. It also stars Ethan Hawke.

Anyone else see this yet?  Amazing film.  Hate it Here (as well as a Tweedy track) definitely on the soundtrack.  There's a scene where Ethan Hawke and his son are listening to Hate it Here on the radio driving down a highway and he's explaining the song to him and praising the production.  Cool scene.

  8. If I remember correctly from past shows at the Majestic the pit is just 2 or 3 rows all seats.  I kept trying and eventually got Row H.  Like you I'm happy I got something down on the floor.

Perfect venue for a solo show.

You are correct.  There is no standing room in the Majestic.  It's just two rows of seats up front.
