  1. They sound absolutely nothing like Nirvana, terrible comparison.

The comparison I hear most is that they're Pixies ripoffs, which I can sometimes hear, but it really only comes from the similarities between Tyler and Where Is My Mind?

If anyone has only heard Possum Kingdom, but enjoyed it, I highly recommend aquiring a copy of Rubberneck.

  2. Home town heroes and I love em. They have 3 full length albums and one EP with the original lineup. The original bassit, Lisa, is no longer with the band (and her participation is pretty controversial). They are hands down, absolutely worth going to see. Friggin great.

  3. I won tickets to see Local H once by answering some trivia on the radio, but couldn't really go....I was like 12. And I won the Austin City Limits thing but couldn't make that either (too short notice.)

Local H still tours constantly, and the shows get better and better each year. Check them out if they pass by near you. Tickets are never more than 15 bucks anyway.

  4. I saw Jim James sing "Golden" on Austin City Limits (TV) with Conor Oberst and M Ward. Ran out and bought It Still Moves that week. Thought it was okay for a couple of months and then it hit me and I was smitten. Saw them live for the first time in Nov. 2005 at Mississippi Nights in St. Louis and they've been my favorite band ever since. I've seen them two more times and have tickets to both Chicago shows in October.

Any idea where I can see this?

  5. Fifth time this year. Anyone still follow these two? I've never been able to get enough. They're out supporting their 10th official release with a tour with Electric Six. Didn't like the abbreviated set this time around, and set staple Wolf Like Me was missing, but beyond that, another great show.

  6. Thank you for posting this. I think he is phenomenal. He is my most prized "find" in recent years. Both of his albums are wonderful, and so are both EPs. I can't get enough, I was so happy to see him state side earlier this year. Absolutely fantastic. Something for everyone and brilliantly fuses his punk rocking roots with his new folk sound. It's been a while since I've heard a folk singer with such passion. Everyone here should investigate, you are right.

  7. I've seen them a few times on this reunion tour, here is a review from me during summer (with pics, got to meet DeLeo too)

They're great. I'm obviously biased, but they really don't get their due. Their last two albums were stellar (especially the fifth which no one bought). I think Weiland is a power house of a frontman. Should be noted that the drummer's Dad passed away, so Ray Luzier (Korn, Army of Anyone, David Lee Roth) has been filling in at the end of the tour.

  8. Okkervil River. The show was killer. Loved it. But I had no one to go with so I went with the girl I was dating at the time who doesn't like most music anyway and has horrible taste when she does. She was talking and bitching and getting impatient nearly the entire time. Totally killed any and all enjoyment I was having. So had to go ahead and call it quits before the encore.

  9. I haven't read this whole thread but all I have to say is:

Nels is great, and a fantastic addition to the band

I've never been disappointed with a Wilco record so far, so I'm hype for the latest.
