  1. Hey Kids

We've just released a handful of tix for the remaining Riv shows via Ticketmaster... this is the only place we're posting about them and there are only about 10-20 for each night, so go get 'em, and see you there...

    HQ

WOW, thank you so much for posting that. i just got a pair for tonights show for face value and now they are already sold out AGAIN. But thank you very much, i got my tickets in the nick of time and ill be there tonight! :rock

  2. I've been trying to get tickets to one of these shows for what seems like forever....ive been unsuccessful so far and monday is the last show i can go to because i have a project for my class due Tuesday (im doing my final project on the wilco concert i was supposed to be attending and comparing it to other shows/recordings), problem is i dont have a ticket. So if anybody has an extra monday ticket (or two) i would really appreciate it. Let me know stevemahalick@yahoo.com or pm me. Thanks.

  3. Considering he wouldn't play it all last year, it sounded really good. I don't know why he hates it on acoustic.

And he did do the leg kick on the bridge.

i was about to say the same thing, he refused to play I Must Be High last year and made someone in the crowd switch their request because he said it was a school function so he wouldnt sing a song about getting high. Lucky you got to hear it. I wish i could've heard that and Family Garden. :music

  4. I actually predicted that the Giants would make it to the Super Bowl and face the Patriots. I'm a big Eli Manning fan and always have been since college, even though he's been questioned from day 1 and never given a fair chance by the media/some fans to develop. That being said I have to say the Patriots will definitely be too much to handle. Hopefully Eli plays a decent game but the Patriots cannot be stopped this season and Brady will not be denied.

  5. the big city tap is essentially on the corner kitty-corner to the vic, and there's trader todd's just a bit north of belmont on sheffield. i dispise trader todd's, i think, and but the big city tap is okay. there's also a place just south of the vic, i think on the corner of sheffield and briar that's alright.

Are you talking about the corner of Sheffield and Barry? If so the place you are talking about is Matilda's and i've heard good things about it but ive never been. Theres also a new place a little further south down Sheffield called The Bottle or something like that, its where Cherry Red used to be, that might be worth checking out. I sadly wont be attending this year (last years show was absolutely amazing) just dont have the dough this time around. Enjoy im sure it will be great and hopefully i can catch a recording or something.

  6. Don't get mad, get money...........someone wrote it with a sharpie one time on the EL in chicago and it made me laugh.

seriously though, i never got a senior quote because the lady in charge of the year book wouldnt let me use my quote because it was from the movie Blow about drugs. Even though my quote was about life and had nothing to do with drugs at all. BUT if i had to do it all over again i would have probably chosen:

You don't need a weather man

To know which way the wind blows.

    -Bob Dylan

    or

All I can do is be me, whoever that is.

    -Bob Dylan

  7. W is authentic. He's an arrogant texas oil man

How does that make him authentic?? Thats nothing more than your opinion/description of who you see him as. I was referring to whether you can trust a candidate to do whatever is in their abilities to make the changes they appear to want to create. If someone is authentic they are trustworthy and reliable...and Bush has proven not the be the former. How does being an "arrogant oil man" make him authentic to the American people??

  8. QUOTE(YouAReMYface @ Nov 2 2007, 04:26 PM) *

Where as Obama and Edwards speak on issues they feel passionate about (and you can clearly tell with Obama especially) they actually care about making this country the best place it can be for everyone.

Or maybe they're just better at appearing so.

Yeah, maybe they are better at appearing so. But if its good enough to appear authentic to the American people, it will surely benefit our country especially in matters of foreign relations and policy to have a president who appears authentic whether they are or not. Whether we like it or not appearance and that gut feeling you have about a candidate is what we have to judge from. I see a confident and charismatic leader in Obama who speaks from his mind and his heart, same with Edwards he "appears" to fight for issues that are truly important to him. Hillary looks like shes reading from a telepromter in her mind with a little script dictating the most strategic move and stance possible to manipulate people into voting for her. Can't you see that Hillary is only saying what she thinks we want to hear. Yeah when our country got attacked and we needed to do something about it Hillary was all for voting for the war in Iraq....now all of a sudden the war is a disaster and she backs off completely. In this country we deal in facts and if you want to do something to change the country then you better come up with a realistic and practical solution with a well thought out plan. Not just saying hey, we need to take a hard stance on terrorists...then a couple years later saying, Ooops i meant we should take a hard stance on terror but not in the case of Iraq not anymore. What a joke. Flip flopping and saying what is popular is what lost the Dems the last election, dont make the same mistake again because Hillary will get torn apart in a real debate.

  9. You know Hillary is desperate for support when she plays the gender card by proclaiming that all women voters should "rally around her" what a complete joke. Even if Hillary somehow wins the nomination she will never become president, NEVER. Mark that one down because she doesnt stand a chance. Obama/Edwards in whichever order is the best chance the Dems have of winning IMO. But i dont care how much money Hillary has she is such a puppet its unbelieveable. Anyone with half a brain can see right through her, shes a fraud and a liar. She doesnt truly believe half of the things she says its all just what she has been advised to say from Bill and whoever else is cramming bullshit in her ear. Where as Obama and Edwards speak on issues they feel passionate about (and you can clearly tell with Obama especially) they actually care about making this country the best place it can be for everyone. Whereas Hillary is all about Hillary and her own agenda rather than the American people. This is coming from someone who actually voted for John kerry (i know he sucks too but it was him or W). I fully intend to vote Democratic just as i did last election, but if the ticket has Hillary's name on it I will surely vote Republican. :no

  10. I was last in line

    For the One True Vine

    The endless winding thread

    I was dead at first

    I had done my worst

(Oooo) when you came to me

    Life had ceased

    I was lost and tired

You set me free from this mighty, mighty fire

    Just in time to be

    (Oooo) My One True Vine

You used to come to me

    and [now] you comfort me

You're the only one that I believe

    I trust you

I hope that someday you will trust me to

I wanna be what you are to me

    Life had ceased

    I was lost and tired

You set me free from this mighty, mighty fire

    Just in time to be

    (Oooo) My One True Vine

Tommyjacobs(sp) did the first post I saw on this, a page back (thankyou sir). So it made me search out the song. I'll post the changes eventually. It sounds like Nels on guitar, Mike on piano, Pat on organ, Glenn on drums, John on bass and and Jeff singing (but I could be wrong). It's that rythmic figure in the 4th verse, "I hope that someday you will trust me to" i think thats refered to as a hemiola. It would hard to play the pie anna and sing that figure at the same time.

(I've played it and sang it, but haven't got that part with out doing a straighter vocal line . . .)

every part played on the recording is beyond words . . . filled with gratitude . . .

yes, thanks a bunch for the lyrics... :thumbup

  11. In Rainbows is fantastic...ive listened to it probably 5-6 times by now, i wouldnt really consider myself a radiohead fanatic either who thinks anything they put out will be the greatest cd ever. But i think its one of the best albums ive heard in awhile (besides SBS of course). The best tracks would have to be: Bodysnatchers, Reckoner, House of Cards, and my personal favorite Jigsaw Falling Into Place.

If you seriously dont like this album listen to it three more times and tell me what you think

  12. i live in the city and have been waiting for wilco to come back forever, i knew the rumors about them playing at millenium park and was anxiously waiting for a date. Then i go on vacation for 2 weeks and BAM theyre sold out when i come back, figures. If anyone can help me out i would appreciate it. Im looking for at least 1 ticket, preferably on the lawn. email me at SteveMahalick@yahoo.com Thanks

  13. I was on my way home from work today and flipping through the radio stations as usual when Shake it Off came on 93.1 XRT radio chicago. I was wondering what song would be hitting the waves after What Light, and i have to admit i was a little down on Shake it Off when i found out it was going to be on SBS. I even called it my "least favorite" song on the album, but it has since grown on me alot. It was a great song to hear on the radio, although I would rather have You Are My Face be the next song on the radio, it was still nice to hear some expected Wilco on the airwaves. :rock

  14. And now it's not?Better change that screen name. :shifty

you completely just took that out of context....it was my favorite song that came onto the televison. Meaning i was merely speaking in the past tense. I guess it was an easy mistake to make after re-reading, but its still my favorite song on the record.

also i do like the attractive girl analogy :thumbup thats pretty funny. I dunno i guess im not completely against having wilco songs on commercials, but i dont really buy the explanation that it was strictly a move intended to attract non-wilco fans. Unless they donated the proceeds to charity, which is possible, i think the money had something to do with it. It was an amazing riff though u gotta love that song no matter where you hear it.
