Anyone get cubs tix today? It's worse odds than lottery. How do the scalpers get their tickets?

Yeah I agree. Marmol was awesome during the season, I think maybe since this is his first preseaon, he couldve been nervous or anxious. Lou made the move, it didnt work perfectly but I think the problem was more in our hitting like someone said earlier. So now I we have to win tonight. Lilly Pad on the mound. Gotta give credit to Bradon Webb, he pitched great. We need to beat him to win this series though cause I imagine we will have a rematch of this game on Sunday. One loss, no problem.

It's Sony's technology and they own the rights to it, so they can (not) do with it whatever they please.

If thats the case, I cant see a format that limits itself succeeding. Especially with porn business being so big, you have to allow it. No question. It could be the deciding factor in this war. Sony is stupid to put limits on the format. It's suicide.

I have noticed that the Bluray players are higher priced than the HD-DVD players. But also noticed a bigger Bluray DVD section at my local Best Buy though, a little bit back. Things may have changed, I dunno.

How can Sony control content of everything release in bluray format? Format should be free to any company.

Take them to the Hop Leaf and let them go crazy with whatever they want.

Ok here is the current format war. They both seem very close in quality and price. It seems to me either can win out and alot will have to do with marketing and not the specs of the technology since they are both viable hi-def formats.

I think there needs to be a winner of this format war and it will be pretty much decided by the end of this year or soon afterwards. With all the sales of HD tvs and all these new HD channels popping up, HD is starting to become very affortable and what everyone wants now. It is natural now for this format war to really get its big fight soon. This holiday season should be a the big match.

It is just stupid to have 2 formats, one will win. I think I will wait till there is a clear winner before upgrading to a HD player. Cmon big corps, make your push, settle this war. Regular DVDs are be so old school.

I like radiohead alot and love this idea. Dont know if I wanna pay $80 for the diskbox though. I feel I can buy the vinyl and cds for cheaper if I wait. I dont care too much for the artwork and book I guess to pay the high price.

A good belgian beer is Delerium Tremens. It comes in a champagne like bottle you need to pop open. It taste great. Its kinda pricey but worth it also very high in alcohol content so watch out. It has a pink elephant on the label. Duvel is good one too. And you can try one of my fav, New Castle for a 12-pack from New England.

I would scared of the Rockies at this point, the hottest team going in. Just lucky my Cubs dont face them right off. Hopefully they cool off some by NL champ series.

I just see where this digital world is going. You trade a show than stick it in your iTunes and just broke the golden rule of trading. If you have the show in wav in a case, then fine. But going to a friends house and taking all of his mp3 shows and trading those around is the devils work. It's way to hard to stop this from happening.

First off, iTunes sucks, anyone using it just doesnt know what they are doing. Who cares if people trade mp3s, if they like mp3s, then let them. Mp3s have their place, why stop it? I use mp3s in my iPod but perserve lossless in my cds and HDD. If you dont want mp3s at all, just dont use it yourself. Let others do what they want. Music is music. More it spreads the better. I am all for high quality music, I am for pushing SACD and DVD-A, but I think mp3s have their place for now.

First post in the baseball thread - which has gone on all season - is earlier today. And the post concerns the Cubs winning it all. Then proceeds to moan about the Cubs having bandwagon fans. All this = a called-for BANDWAGONEER joke.

Ohh, it wasnt clear what you were saying till now. Took you for a person who was confused about the word. Didnt realize people were on this thread all season long. Just decided to jump into thread cause I was bored and spread my joy. But as a longtime Cubs fan, I see tons of bandwagons. I just accept them as part of winning. I dont mind most of them cause most are fairly harmless. I mostly hate the loud drunk college types that just go to party and think they are cool. I would think any city has them, right?

It won't. TBS has the NLCS, Fox has the ALCS. Fox has the World Series, though, so if the Cubs make it, you can enjoy it in the comfort of your own home.

I am a Cubs fan, but many of the people at the games are annoying. A lot of transplant Lincoln Park people going to the games cause it's "cool". Now, if someone offered me tickets, I would be there.

I do get annoyed by alot of annoying fans at the park like you mentioned especially in the bleachers, but still love going. I like John Cusack as an actor but he ruined it for me when he said he was also a White Sox fan. I just cant have that. Gimme Bill Murray anyday, or Billy Corgan.

yeah, I am a long time true Cubs fan. Not only a Cubs fan but a baseball fan. I watch the postseason every year regardless of what team makes it. How does getting excited make me a bandwagon if thats what you're saying? Bandwagon are fans that like only when winning.

Just saying whats the big deal of not having cable or sat. How is that so baffling? Unless you are so consumed by TV that not having extra channels doesnt make sense. Thats silly.

And to call the cub fan haters, you would be excited too if you have been waiting so long. It just comes with the territory. But we do have alot of bandwagon fans I gotta admit.

But that's like 6 channels, maybe 7 tops. If Sir Stewart doesn't have cable, then how does he watch NESN? I'm seriously baffled here.

 

P.S. When I lived in Boston (a long time ago, mind you) cable was not an option in the Back Bay area. Or at least that was BU's party line. Anyway, I did the non-cable thing for 4 years and it pretty much blew.

I dont have cable. Just dont watch TV enough to pay for it. About the only time I wished I had it is Cubs games, thats when Santo fills in, but for playoffs I really would like to watch. Time to find a friend or go to the local bar. Alot of the population doesnt have Cable, especially the ones who cant afford it. If you are baffled by this, you probably need to experience more of the other sides of life.

I cannot believe they are not locally or nationally televising the CUBS games here. They seem to be on TBS or TNT only for these divisional playoffs. WTF??? Whats up with that? Dont they think Chicago fans would be interested in the most popular event of the Cubs in 4 years? Where is WGN or FOX Chicago on this? WCIU??? Someone?

Yeah it seems like The Vic is the place he plays solo now. He played there earlier this year. His solo shows are really good, gotta check one out.

Tweedy's a Cardinals fan. If he's anything like most Cardinals fans, that would never happen.
