  1. I just skimmed the other posts so I am not 100% sure any of these have been posted but here are some great books imo

    House of Leaves-Mark Z. Danielewski

    Any Jose' Saramego

    The Wasp Factory-Iain Banksx

    On the Beachy-Nevil Shute

    The Color Midnight Made-Andrew Winer

    Enders Game-Orson Scott Card

    Middlesex-Jeffrey Eugenides

    To name a few;)

also if you have never read One Hundred Years of Solitude-Garbiel Garcia Marquez

or The Magus-John Fowles those would be good too.

OHYOS by Marquez is about one particular family. The Buendia family. Members of that family found a town, name it Macondo, then all through the book it goes through their family tree pretty much and what happens to them and their town in a span of 100 years.

The Magus is about a guy who gets caught up in a game with a millionaire. To me both good books and they aren't short.

Sorry I couldnt review them any better:) I love to read but I can't review what I read worth shit

  2. Its fighting with numerous styles.

Example: Boxing you just use your hands and punch.

MMA you use every style, boxing, ju jitsu, wrestling,

Its pretty violent, but if your into fighting of any nature its worth checking out:)

  3. i wish i could read between words on a screen like that

i mean there is all kinds of words i used to show i am so upset that i should calm down.

    stop showing your ignorance

know one wants to read this shit so you can speak personally to me if you want. just private message me, but there is no need for us to make a thread acting like kids..

    nobody gives a shit

  4. Where I come from, busting balls isn't necessarily a bad thing. We all can stand to laugh at ourselves sometimes.

one where do you come from?

and two i can laugh at myself as much as anyone, but what did i exactly say in my original thread that I should stand back and laugh at myself?

I dont swing that way sorry.

I have nothing against gays though so your cool in my book..

  5. I like your sig

    Have you ever met Wayne?

I met him after a lips show in 03 i think?

He was very cool. It was me and about 6 others that waited on him. He took pictures and signed my ticket stub..

He invited all of us out to be in "Christmas on Mars" as extras.:)

  6. I honestly didn't see the edit button til after i made the two posts, i apologize

also on another post i already had a post and i put fast reply and it just added it on to my post.

thats what i thought was going to happen.

    again i apologize..

im not here to cause trouble, i just dig music like you

  7. wow it only took 5 minutes for a buddy to reply..

    here is the point,

what is the point of making a parody thread, it usually happens when the person is new too, its like the ones with 5000 posts are "in" and are "elite" and can bust anyones balls on a message board..

its like you don't get enough satisfaction out of life so you try to get a laugh at someone elses expense on a message board..

my threads i started were legit i was just asking a question, trying to get to know some of you, but then there are the asses who think they have to bust any newbs balls whenever they get the chance...

and you all take up for each other..

do you not see where i am coming from?

And lets make this a discussion instead of a bashing too..

  8. under 40 posts one should just shut and watch. respect your elders. they know the way to message board magic.

Yeah and they know the way to not having a life. Having lots of posts doesn't make you an elitist has much as you want it to. It just means you have alot of time on your hands and you don't have much of a life outside a computer.

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has got one. But in every message board there is your going to have jerks who think they are better than everybody else and also think they are bigger fans.

  9. Excluding Smith's picking pattern many of his songs not only have Beatlesesque melodies but there are parallels in the chord progressions as well.

We already established the fact that some of his songs are beatlesque. He even said that. Uncle Tupelo took alot from basic chord progressions popularized by classic country artist.

It doesn't matter. All through RnR there are bands that have taken, stolen, copied, etc..intentionally and unintenally material from other different artist.

The Beatles took from Motown and early rock(Perkins, Berry, etc, the later years took from Dylan), then every other band that came out after them were influenced by the beatles or some other band..Everything comes full circle.

When your influenced by someone it sometimes comes through your music un consciously.

  10. Yeah its defitnately different then anything he has ever done. I think it would've fit nicely on XO, but we will never know unless of course we change the tracklist.

Good to see another ES fan on this board.

Yeah its ridiculous how many songs he didn't like and didn't think they were album material. Most of his unreleased songs that he didn't feel were up to par are better than what most artist can do.

Do you ever post on sweetaddy?

  11. Obviously the Beatles influence most things and I'd probably wouldn't be wrong if I said that The Beatles were one of Elliott Smith's favourite bands - he did about 10 covers of their songs. I should correct myself -

What I said about Elliott Smith chords, maybe I should've said guitar playing. A folkish finger picking pattern with the melody played through a picking pattern and slightly unusual (though not absurd) chord changes and especially a chord sequence often dictated by (or producing) a rising or falling chromatic or scale sequence through the chords themselves, e.g. the chorus of Please Be Patient With Me, and the middle 8 of Say Yes, the chorus of Happiness. If you want to imagine that Elliott Smith had no style except "Beatlesque", go ahead. I think you're wrong.

Also, Elliott Smith never released Flowers for Charlie, most likely because he realised the melody was far too similar to Happy Xmas (War is Over) by John Lennon. I still like Elliott's song but you can't escape that fact everytime you hear it.

Im a huge Elliott fan so I agree with you.

I was just saying some of his songs do sound beatlesque but who cares. I think he was an amazing songwriter and one of the best of his generation.

I remember a couple years back having a disagreement with a nirvana fan. He said Kurt Cobain was the best song writer. I am all for opinions but I was like wtf...

coast to coast-What do you think of "All Cleaned Out" off of New Moon? Its the only song I hadn't heard prior to the release and I think its amazing. Its simple yet I love his voice in that song.

  12. As being someone who is still in recovery over a heroin addiction I can say that talking about your past is not a bad thing. Its kinda like therapy. A recovery addict no matter how long they have been off their drug of choice will always be a recovering addict and talking about it helps.
