  1. Does anyone know if a cable box is ALWAYS necessary to receive HDTV? We have an HDTV and a cable box for it, but we are about to purchase another (19" or 22" LCD) for another room. Do we need another HDTV box rented from Comcast to use it in HD? Or do they sell them now with built-in converters so we can just plug the cable into the back sans converter box?

  2. Well again, you as a Catholic, make a choice, but your religious beliefs aren't the beliefs of all and their choices deserve to be their own. NO ONE wants an abortion, but it is up to the individuals directly involved to make the determination whether or not that is the best course of action.

I respect your beliefs and realize that there are no easy answers on this issue and we're not likely to change anyone's minds on an iNternet message board, so I'll leave it at that as well. (although you raised the issue of the advertisement).

  3. Is that from the 9 disc set? And if yes, do you recommend the box?

It is indeed a 9 cd box. It is definitely good if you like that sort of music. I burned the collection form an old girlfriend a while back, so I'm not sure how much it goes for and whether that cost is justified.

  4. Ads like that seem to miss the point, IMO. I saw a bumper sticker recently in the same vein. It read, "Smile! Your mother chose life!" Do pre-lifers think that pro-choicers sit around plotting more ways to kill babies? The point is that it remains a choice. As Clinton said (paraphrasing), "abortion should be legal, safe and rare."

  5. I'm not sure if it was actually the ShamWow or if it was one of those imitators Vince warns about, but a friend of mine ordered it and gave us a couple. It was essentially a piece of felt that not only did not make me say "wow!" it didn't really absorb at all, merely pushed liquid around.

  6. Is anyone else disappointed that AOAF and Spiders are not on any of the setlists? I wonder if they're going to edit the two shows together, or show them each in their entirety.

Yes on the former; no on the latter. I've always found Spiders kind of uninteresting. *ducks* I AM disappointed that Poor Places is not on there.

  7. Some of your choices may be great but what I have learned from expierence is the general audience want to hear a song they know. The few times during my wedding when they played one of "My" songs no one got it....The song selection even though it is your wedding should appeal to the masses so everyone is up and dancing. :hmm

And yes I know this is the parents dance song but I am also talking about in general wedding play lists.

Yeah we are having a relatively small wedding and, while some won't know the songs, most will. Thanks for the suggestions all! I think we are going to go with the version of Forever Young from The Last Waltz. We'll fade in just before the last verse (which seems the most appropriate verse) to make it a two minute dance. If anyone cares, we are our doing JGB's version of Shining Star as our first dance. We are also fading that one in to make it shorter. I love dancing with my fiance, but no one wants to see me dance for nine minutes! :lol

  8. in these uncertain times?

    high-speed internet?

    premium movie channels?

    Cable TV?

    Bottled water?

    Cell phones?

    $2+ coffee?

Concert tickets that cost more than $30?

I work from home, so hi-speed internet is essential.

I don't have any premium cable channels. I used to have HBO, but realized all I was watching anymore was Entourage.

I could live without cable, but it doesn't feel like a big expense either.

Never use bottled water and not because of cost.

Cell phone is my primary work phone -- I don't even have a land line -- and I write it off as a work expense.

    Make my own coffee!

I rarely go to concerts over $30. I think my next expensive concert is Andrew Bird and that is $25.

  9. The Wind is probably my favorite Cat song - but it's not even 2 minutes long!

Since your a phan, I'll go with Waste.

Two minutes is plenty! :lol We thought about Waste, but it has been used as a first dance at one of our good friends' wedding, so... It's also a little too direct of a love song for a dance with parents.
