RS has always been too pop music oriented imo..............they have a good article here and there for sure..........to me most of those are politically charged.............I prefer Filter as my magazine of choice for reviews and music articles.........

What Light?, you seem confused about why your posts have raised so many hackles. It has nothing to do with cliques, and everything to do with your tone. People reacted badly to your posts not because you expressed an unpopular opinion, but because you coupled that opinion with a smug, patronizing tone. You implied that anyone with a differing take must, without exception, be guilty of blind fan worship or plain ignorance. You then refused to engage with opposing arguments, choosing to instead dismiss them as merely the addled opinions of thoughtless, uneducated lemmings. What it boils down to is this: You took a rigid position on an artist that you openly acknowledge you have limited experience with, and that churlish arrogance is what ticked people off. Surely you can see why your unfounded, condescending generalizations might make some people defensive?

actually I stated an opinion on a message board about an album under it's thread..............I was asked to to find examples of his music sounding like Gram..........so I did...........I was asked what songs sound like Grams.............I stated a few.............so the way i see it I did provide plenty of examples to explain my reasoning for the opinion I had about the album.........however to just sit and say he is this and that on a brilliant level.............must also show support imo..........cannot just be those opposed have to.............you gotta be able to see that...............if not a lemming would be a good reference point for you to start with here..............I have listened to the album I critiqued many many times now...............my opinion has not changed in the least..............my comments were about this album and this album only...........whether he has better stuff or is this godlike artist away from this album...........is not important...........my comments were directed at Easy Tiger...........under a thread titled Easy Tiger.............everything else is grasping for straws really.............

my point was that for 40+ pages everyone can have opinions of praise and brilliance for an artist(Ryan Adams in this case) and shower him with compliments and never have to site why he is so good or why he is brilliant...........but when someone comes in a thread about this album and artist and says something against these 40+ pages of praise..............they must show examples etc.............very one sided...........as if to say anything different must have proof but if you follow in line with others.........no proof needed.............guess you missed my point entirely..............oh well............

yeah a free concert..........with cheap beer .............. yeah I could be listening to about anyone..........but the fact the band was so nice and hung out with their fans afterword was real cool............they are very grounded now and down to earth..........for good reason...........anyway..............good times

You also seem to have a real need to view everyone here as an adversary, and I don't know what that's all about. I listen to Ryan Adams occasionally. Some of his stuff I like, some of it I don't. I'd hardly call him a god; he's just a guy who makes records. Why would I have to regard Ryan Adams as a god in order to defend him against what I see as unfair statements? Jesus, over the years, I've defended the Counting Crows, Letters to Cleo, even Paris fucking Hilton.

yeah I am gonna be defensive..............when I came on a thread about Ryan Adams and posted what I thought of the album and got blasted like N Sync broke up or something...............when it was just my opinion...........I was asked to cite examples of people or critics saying this same opinion..........so I did...........I was asked what songs sound like Gram's from his work.............named Ryan's off Easy Tiger and Gram's..............to show similarities.............however it is funny...........if a comment is an opinion not with the clickish norm.............they must show examples................when imo if you are going to defend someone and disregard so many opinions..............you too should prove why...........in all fairness...........but yeah if people are gonna come after to me for having an opinion and defending it...............then yeah that is how you will think I am............btw..........I would defend Adam Duritz anytime...........as I would many of the bands from that era(Gin Blossoms........Cranberries.....etc)...........

not to really get involved again because frankly Ryan Adams is just not worth it........................I did however have a question for you.............you always ask people to show "their work" on claims made about an artist if it is not what a few regular clickish posters think...............but why don't you "show your work" to prove that he is not?...........imo for you to have an opinion he is not.............needs as much proof as one who claims he is..............looks like someone would rather not seek out the cold hard truth about their god..............

and in between songs the lead singer was complaining about how little they got paid for the gig. Left a rather bad taste in my mouth.

guess they have been touring the last 2-3 years doing free concerts...........granted someone is paying them..............but it is a big difference from their 90's success I am sure...........

this will probably get flamed up bigtime but oh well................went to a free concert on friday downtown where I live.............and the Gin Blossoms were playing...........I had not seen them or heard of them in years.........I went to this show on purpose...........this was a very important band of mine years and years ago.............one that died when all the bands from that era did around the time grunge got too big...........they were amazing and put on quite a show...........met Robin Wilson(the lead singer) after the show and talked with him a bit...........he is a great guy and the fact he has been touring for 75 straight days at that point...............they did a great job............their album New Miserable Experience I still love to this date.............anyway thought I would give them a plug...........for a very good early nineties band that are all around good guys..........their new album(came out a year ago called Major Lodge Victory) is not half bad...........considering they lost their songwriting genius to suicide so many years ago.............

I don't know. Meg's ok to look at, but she's not much of a technical drummer. It works for the music though.

 

I caught Mink's set at Lollapalooza this weekend (they're touring with Satellite Party). They have a hot female drummer who can really play. The band's pretty good too.

Yeah for their sound and what Jack needs her to do she works...............in most other bands she would be exposed................I still think she is a cutie..........

I understand...............I have individual GP and Grevious Angel copies as well..............and the Reprise Sessions box set is those two albums in their entirety..............the other was a good mix of all his groups he was in and his solo stuff...........if you are an album man I would say buy the GP and Grevious Angel albums seperately...........
